Ronaldo
I realise he's trying to shed his cultivated image as a wannabe tough guy, but going to such lengths is ridiculous. He's about a step away from dressing like a woman. Disgusting.
Dave
Just following up what I posted earlier: http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11678_7006490,00.html Sky Sources understand Newcastle United have no plans to offload midfielder star Joey Barton for £1million. It had been claimed that the Magpies were prepared to listen to cut-price offers for the midfielder, who will see his contract expire next summer. Barton has been prepared to discuss his future over recent weeks, airing his disappointment at not being offered fresh terms on Tyneside. He has made it clear that his preference would be to remain at St James' Park, having thoroughly enjoyed his four years in the North East. The 28-year-old is, however, aware that Newcastle will have the final say when it comes to ushering him towards the exits. It is understood that no bids have been lodged as yet, but reports on Sunday suggested that the Magpies were open to offers. Newcastle have now moved to play down those rumours, insisting that they have no plans to part with Barton. The Magpies are believed to have placed a £4million price tag on Barton to his interested suitors.

Guest
£4m is a fair fee given everything.

Guest
28 year old Barton out for £4m and 24 year old Ireland in for £2m and lower wages is a fair deal imo.

Guest
What at? I think Ireland's the better of the two, younger and cheaper. Not sure what's to despair at.

Guest
Did as almost as much as Barton did in 3 years then.
Keefaz
Did as almost as much as Barton did in 3 years then. One: why dump Barton now when he's actually playing well? Two: why dump him for a player who's a completely different type of player?
Guest
See the other thread, we've already replaced him imo so if getting rid of him brings in Nolan's replacement then great.

As of late, Barton is the better player. No doubt. He is also a leader which is an extra plus. We don't have too many of those.
Ketsbaia
Barton's photos Those glasses just make him look nerdy. I hate the way Sky rubbish stories that they've just made up.

Determination, grit, presence, hard work, charisma. I'd say he had some of the qualities of a good leader, but not all. He loses his head too easily, makes decisions based on emotion rather than common sense, and gets wrapped up in his own point of view.
TherealnorthernTOON
How many of you want a leader of the players in the club beeing barton? He's an absolute tool, just look how he goes around in media telling everyone how things will collapse after the sale of Nolan.
NG32
All this leadership business...where was it when we were being relegated. Just sayin...before i get attacked.

AyeDubbleYoo
I think when he's happy and content he must be a good leader and good influence, but when he's pissed off and his nose is out of joint he must be a nightmare to be around.
