We're Ruining The Championship For The Neutrals

The spite from the Mirror is beyond the pale.

Why do any of you buy this rag ?

we don't.  Anyhow, you left a comment on the article, if its such tosh, it isn't worth bothering, surely?

I never said it was tosh.

It is just the latest in a string of digs at Newcastle in this rag which - literally - goes back more than a DECADE

It doesn't matter if you regard it as tongue-in-cheek (I regard it as intending what it achieved - to annoy many fans unnecessarily) you don't see similar articles against other so-called big sides.

It's no wonder so many other fans loathe us when half of us can't even take a bit of banter.

This.

Jesus...now some of you are making the haters seem justified FFS.....

Pass the self-flagellation whip to Andy when you've finished, Ron !  :iamatwat:

there were plenty about leeds when their slide started.

would the originator of the thread please add a poll to see if the consensus is one of parodied compliment or slagging off.

I recall the initial digs at Leeds - which mainly (almost exclusively in fact) came from other fans, not the rags.

Then it became disbelief as they plummeted, and had a collossal points deduction against them and then - in spite of Dennis Wise - they got SUPPORT for their bid to overcome the 15 point defecit from the rags.

We, on the other hand, get a steady number of attacks (why else is there a dedicated THREAD to the press' attitude to us, with constant articles in this vein ?)

Its YOU and a few others wearing sackcloths and ashes, Ron.

It seems to have zipped past you that I'm the one angrily defending our side, not weeping and wailing "Sorry !" to the press.

i used to visit the wacco (leeds site) about the time we bought woodgate then milner (my username was "eden") and they were saying the very same as you are now. It's actually a slight case of paranoia. we are a big club therefore worth writing about but win nowt so they are unlikely to be fullsome in their praise as it isn't actually warranted.

I read this the other day and to a degree it does piss me off.

He has a point as how often do people complain about Man U winning the league every year, it's the same situation as there's no more surprise, excitement for the neutral.

But admittedly the only reason it pissed me off is that he's blaming us for spoiling the league where as we're sitting pretty in 3rd, not 1st, surely right now Cardiff or Boro are the ones spoiling the league going on league position.

The article pissed me off because it was pointless and poorly written, but I've got to side with Madras in a way here.  The writer's not saying that we're running away with the league making it a bore-fest, he is saying that he's surprised (and disappointed) that NUFC aren't crashing and burning in a self-destructive fashion like normal.  'Spoiling it for the neutrals' means we're keeping the soap opera entertainment value minimal by winning games with little fuss.

I still thought it was a poor article mind.

Good point.

If only some of those attacking others (wonder who I'm thinking of ?)  ;D had the basic intelligence to phrase it correctly like this instead of peabrained personal attacks, then there wouldn't have been backbiting, just discussion.

the article doesn't even say that, all it says it that we haven't become the spectacular leeds style disaster everyone had hoped (not out of spite phil but because everyone likes to see larger clubs get a comeuppance).

i specialise in peabrained personal attacks, it's called banter, take that away and the forum is dead.

You can look at it that way, or you can wonder why the digs increase when the club is doing badly - but not attacking the club, attacking the fans - I have lost count of the number of articles tearing into Newcastle fans. From the broad sheets too. But the Mirror worse than any of them.

My own favourite was the Mirror's attack on NUFC fans for "only"buying 25,000 season tickets - I don't know if they've even sold that many, but hell - most of the Prem would give their eye teeth for that. But the Mirror acted as if this was a sign of how "fair weather" the fans are, FFS !

Banter, by the way is not personal attacks. Petty spiteful insults are not banter - aiding with an equally peabrained individual in these attacks is not "banter" either.

Be on the receiving end and you may feel different. That may yet come, following your performance.

you could ask why everyone attacks man utd fans for all coming from london.

we have a large support that has for various reasons been able to fill the media with it's complaining and moaning. in london spurs fans are treated the same. do you complain when the media go on about how good our fans are and are regularly called the loyalist by the media ? i doubt it.

phil you are going way over the top and seem paranoid about it, for years the media made out we were the greatest fans in the game, they still regularly do then have a dig at some of our more eccentricly viewed fans.

I think people might have missed the tongue-in-cheek nature of that article. It's just a guy saying he's surprised and disappointed by his lack of opportunity to laugh at us... if anything it's a complement.

If thats a compliment, I wouldn't care to be insulted (Jesus.....)

i don't think you're meant to take it this seriously, it's just a comedy opinion piece.

As I said though, why isn't it being done with other clubs too ?

Can you imagine what the response a similar article would get if directed at say, Liverpool - that it would be "good" if they went down and down ?

Would the scousers see the funny side of it ?

Would they hell. If they were doing well, they'd laugh, yes.

If they'd just been relegated due to the activities of an assett stripping cockney owner,

Had a load of abusive articles directed at their fans in the rags, and had sneering comments on how "fair weathered" they were because they'd only sold 25,000 tickets, then suprisingly started well, with high attendances WAY above normal for the league, then got an article like this aimed at them, how do you think they'd react then ?

Like we have, I'd say. Some shrugging their shoulders, some mildly annoyed others furious.

Didn't find the article very amusing, but Phil K's comments have certainly cheered me up.

You've been ruining this forum for the neutrals for years.

If you're a neutral you shouldn't be here.

But it would explain one or two of your posts.

Surely you mean the way you have reacted?

Go away you tedious little tit.

Still bashing your meat at lesbo films, while talking falsetto, or have you moved on to dressing like a woman Mr 418 ?

Why do I need to use it ?

You name yourself after a Man City goalie, and try to be "witty" with the first part.

Have a I got that correct ?

Now please tell me WHY I need to name you ?

Come on man - I need to get out to the library, shops and one or two others.

I keep answering, not wanting to leave anything unanswered.

Some of you are like the load mouths at a Chubby Brown concert - "ME ! ME ! HAVE A GO AT ME !!!" ;D

16,000 posts under the same username over 4 years and this is the first time you've noticed me :(

First of all 'username' in that context is a noun, your questions interprets it as a verb.

Secondly, i wasn't talking to you, it was keefaz.

Thirdly, your last question is a crazy.

That all said, you're a lot of fun.
