ChezGiven
That's true of nearly every match thread on here. It's half the point of the forum at all tbh. You what now? Most people on this forum use it because they can't get to games on a regular basis. Most people on this forum were watching the matches last season, no matter where they were. This season they're not.

And when you hear 'foul by Butt' every two mins you start to sense it may be a case deja vu.
Pilko
The number of times the commentators said "here's Nicky Butt, tries to play it forward, can't do so" was unreal.

If you then claim he is to blame for the defeat, i'd question your mental faculties.

Jayson
Theres more than enough information going on to get a fair grasp of whats happening. Individually noticing what players are doing off the ball is the main thing you're unaware of not watching. Outside of that its a process of elimination isnt it. Butt plays, the opposition manages to find more space to fire shots in from outside the area. 2+2 =

Yes, lets discuss the various interpretations of what could have been happening during the commentary. Obviously that could mean that Butt actually played the ball forwards and it went out or went to an opposition player, or that Butt looked up and was about to play a forward ball before being closed down and passing sideways or backwards. I'm not one of the people saying he's wholly responsible for last nights loss, but by the sound of things he was a part of it, along with the rest of the midfield. Difference between commenting and blaming defeat on a player/manager's tactics. After watching the Cardiff game I was nervous about going into this game with the same tactics and formation, although I did say that Butt should slot in ok instead of Smith. Even without seeing the game live it's become clear that we got pissed on, the result wasn't a fluke, if anything our goal was. Obviously the misgivings before the game were justified, although i agree that it's daft to single out a player without having seen the game.

Im not talking about their opinions. Hearing......"Simpson sends the ball long/Enrique tries to pick out carroll" etc followed by "and blackpool push fowards" repeatedly for example gives a good idea of how we're losing possession often. Combine that with Blackpool having near 70% of the ball at certain points and watching the side play the same formation and be pushed back in the same way against Cardiff. And then sure, you'll have the commentators saying their opinions of whats happening on top of that. When it all matches up, you have a decent enough base to form an opinion. JUst going by that it looks like there was very little pressure on them when they were around our box. The player i would have thought responsible for that was just ambling around. Interesting to see how many players Blackburn were throwing into our box for the second goal as well, wish we could see us doing that more often rather than a gaggle of central midfielders all standing in the middle of the pitch.
