Guest Pie
Remember at least one suggesting we would get relegated and Ipich would get promoted. I would think it does it help if you played the game but some of the fuckers are so thick its unreal. On the other hand what makes a journalist a specialist? Can't find much info. Anyone got any ideas where to find it? Just curious really. Championship I'm talking about but others would be good
Amir_9
Pundits predictions and so called "experts" predictions only come from recent/overall form of a team and the general level of what they think about a certain team most likely based on the popular opinion, for example, we all can safely say we cant see a 4th division team beating a Premier League side, etc. In reality, anything can happen in Football. Guest schmuck
they're never held to account for them, they should all be made to predict every league fixture of the season and whoever's bottom of their organisation's league table at the end of each season should be executed. or sacked or something
WarrenBartonCentrePartin
didn't Chris Kamara say that Peterborough (who are bottom, for anyone that doesn't bother looking at the bottom half) would be promoted, under the guidance of Darren Ferguson (for anyone that lives on a different planet, they sacked him, he's now Preston manager)? 1878
tbh I didn't think you had the right type of players nor the team spirit (after being relegated without a fight at Villa) to come straight back up. I also thought Boro would do well! With solid, no-nonsense defenders like Wheater, Pogatetz & Riggot in the backline and them keeping hold of Johnson, Digard and O'Neil in the summer they looked a good bet for promotion imo. Sometimes football just makes you look like a dickhead though.
Disco
Weren't we same odds to win the league as to go down pre-season? I'd never had said we'd be in the position we are in now, WBA yes but not us, would've been happy with playoffs.
Guest firetotheworks
I'd like to see a post from anyone at the start of this season that predicted we'd get promoted tbf.

They wanted us relegated, quite desperately. God alone knows why. Their spite was all over the rags, trying to pass themselves off as "informed" or "taking the p*ss" Strangely many on these boards missed it in its entirety, or had a blind spot for abuse of NUFC. Whatever. These "journos" or hacks been proved wrong. Quite substantially wrong And noticed all the "I was proved wrong" from them ? NOT ONE. Still, nothing sweeter than seeing these dog-w@nkers shown for what they are Strangely, while disappointed at being sent down, I wasn't as devastated as I expected. I noticed quite a few were the same. Sixth sense ? And as for "nobody thought we'd get promoted" I remember seeing quite a few saying just that at the beginning of the season. I was keeping my trap shut on that, and still will not say so until the fat lady has done her turn and left the buiding.

I suspect the decision to spunk millions on Alves was never forgiven, and in the whole process the bigger picture was bypassed and Boro ended up with a shitter manager. Wouldn't be suprised to see them challenge next season if they keep a same-ish squad.
Guest firetotheworks
Weirdly, I think Southgate's stock has probably went up after being sacked by Boro. Much like Sven's did when England got McClaren. Southgate's spot on punditry probably helps him too.

I was keeping my trap shut on that, and still will not say so until the fat lady has done her turn and left the buiding. The most common reaction this season has been "meh" with a few " well they were bound to come back up....". Throw in a few platitudes towards Hughton (well deserved, but a back handed dig at those who wanted a Shearer/Keegan/Ant and Dec in situ). All a bunch of self serving pigs, feeding from the same trough. Repeat something often enough and it'll get accepted as the truth,"those Barcodes are a deluded bunch.....expect to win the league every year.....I remember when they used to get crowds of 8,000.....not the big club they think they are". An element of truth in some of this, but close scrutiny would perhaps tell a more interesting story. Thank God for George Caulkin. If or when we do get promoted (far too battle scarred to take anything for granted), I personally think we should celebrate, we've been through too much not to enjoy the moment. But this is not May 1993. The scenes will differ. Perhaps we were naive, perhaps we believed all the nice things that some people said to us. Perhaps that a club (and a city that suffered more than most) had something to smile about. This is the build them up/knock them down culture we've all been a part of. Well we were on the receiving end of it last year. And some. May I suggest that we are not the Shiny Happy Toon Army anymore, we are the Mags. With a big dose of Fuck You to rest. Messrs Liddle, Dennis, Durham etc, you'll get yours. Rant over. HTL!
merlin
What do you expect when they allow gross, brain-cell challenged cretins such as Martin Samuel(has there EVER been a worse Sports journalist?)to work in the media....? Such pathetic specimens of humanity should be kept in a strait-jacket...permanently. Chief of the Know-Nowt-About-It brigade. Ignore the media - all liars. Guest nufc_geordie
I've got to admit I fancied West Brom, Cardiff and Boro this season. Thought we might just scrape into the play-offs if we were lucky and would have picked Ipswich as an outside bet.

I love how samule sits on Sunday Suppliment stroking his beard like he is some grand wizard of football knowledge. They never say anything other then what you hear amongst your pals or discussion in the pubs. They all sit on that show and look uber serious when passing comments. Fuck off, the public dont need you.
Guest deathwish
I'd rather listen to the opinions of people who make money from football betting, i.e. pro gamblers, rather than pundits. At least they have well formed research and are willing to put up the money to back up their statements. Some of the predictions made by pundits are stupid. Lawrenson in particular.
