NEWCASTLE are ready to make a £15million bid for Lille hitman Moussa Sow.

Sow, 25, is the leading scorer in French Ligue One this season with 21 goals and his side lead champs Marseille by one point in the title race.

The Senegal star has hit the big-time after four indifferent seasons at Rennes.

Lille will drive a hard bargain for their most prized asset as they are keen to keep hold of him for at least one more season.

Magpies chief scout Graham Carr watched Sow in last week's defeat at Monaco.

Toon boss Alan Pardew is ready to spend big as he bids to replace Andy Carroll at the end of the season following the England's striker's £35m January switch to Liverpool.

15M is alot of money, what if it turns out that he's a one season wonder (not that i think  so)

He is also playing with arguably the best midfield (except Lyon) in Ligue 1 behind him.

Sow is not going to be an easy player to sign. Lille are top of the league, and I would say nailed on to qualify for Champions League football next season. I would be very, very surprised if they let him go.

El-Arabi is a far more realistic option, and out of Sow, Gameiro and Gervinho, he is the player I would concentrate on signing. Why? Caen are in the Ligue 1 relegation zone and out of the beforementioned he would command the lowest transfer fee, and wages.

Saying that, if Lille are to sell Sow, I'd expect them to replace him with El-Arabi.

Was about to make that point, I would much prefer Gameiro or El Arabi to Sow, based on the amount of goals they've got for weaker teams.

Would seriously question why we would pay huge money(well it is for us) on someone who could miss 2 months of the next two seasons with the ACN, especially given the points made by colocho and tomlker

If we had those four strikers I think most fans would be over the moon so you can bet it won't happen. MA make us happy.. its just not in his nature.

Well, to say that I haven't loved the characters that make up our team so much since at least Robson's time in charge isn't to much of a stretch.

That makes me pretty happy. O0

El-Arabi, Sow and Gervinho would all be involved in the ACN. Only Gameiro wouldn't be, but I just can't see us signing him.

Colocho, true. Even IF we could attract him he would probably demand pretty high wages as well. El Arabi is a good shout, and a lot more likely.

Personally i would rather go for Caicedo and Rondon instead of paying 15m for one striker, or one of them plus Arabi.

Wasnt sure where El-Arabi was from, thought he was declared for France. If we sign Gervinho i would expect us to sign another strker anyway.

He's been playing for the Moroccan national team since the turn of the season.

This is only Sow's first season at Lille, hard to see them getting rid of him when they are likely to play in the champions league and they are already likely to lose Gervinho. Good player though

Gameiro has said he wants to move to Spain, preferably a club like Villareal.

When / Where did he say this? I know he was close to a move to Villareal in January, but they didn't meet the valuation.
