NUFC transfer rumours in the press

Wonder if we'll make an old-fashioned, outright purchase this summer. For a player we want in a position we need, that isn't in the last year of his contract or available on the cheap for some reason.

Before all the 'yeah but who cares as long as they're good enough' merchants pile in, I agree. Just wondering, and if it will restrict our choices despite the funds we have available.

The last line of this highlights a very important issue imo

Carroll/kuqi, Best, Ranger out.

Ba, ???, ??? in.

Three out, three in up front with Shola and Loven hanging round for the last year of their contracts.  Wonder if Erding will be 9 or if another shock like Cabaye is being worked on.

Am told Alex McLeish is targeting Danny Simpson.Contract talks have stalled.Won't be many left at this rate #nufc

Yeah..what?

Got to say, it wouldn't surprise me if the reason they've stalled is because he thinks he's better than he actually is and is therefore demanding more money than we deem fair.

Danny Simpson is a championship player and nothing more.

Said it before, but RB should be a priority for us. Simpson is a half decent back up in the prem

Don't really rate him, but wouldn't mind a squad like.

Simpson won't go man, never saw a player so enthusiastic about playing for Newcastle.

Although he will have a chance of being in the Euro 2012 squad ( if we get there) if he moves to Villa.

He's got zero chance of playing for England now Kyle Walker is the next Glenn Johnson

"Pedro Leon has offers coming out of his ears. Mourinho doesn't want him, but he's lost none of his stature not only in Spanish football, but throughout Europe. In addition to several Spanish clubs (Real Betis and Valencia are the most insistent) four English clubs have his agent's phone number marked to tell him they want him.

Specifically, Newcastle, Fulham and Aston Villa have openly shown their interest, and Liverpool are also keen. For The Reds, their first choice is Jeffren and are now in negotiations with the Catalan club, and have Leon has their back-up option."
