Guthrie knows better than anyone he's being misused out wide. Not his fault.

Still he should be sticking to his position of RM more than he does, did we actually create a good attack from our right-side in the 1st 50 mins ???

Also barton can play the position well and adapt to it, why can't guthrie?  Cos he's so limited as a footballer.

Bartons still struggling to adapt to being a footballer

What a crock of s*** argument.

Stop defending s*** footballers man.  Good footballers adapt to what they are told to do, Guthrie clearly can't adapt.

Again, absolute mental argument.

There are some fucking fantastic footballers that would struggle to play out of position.

Some will, but Guthrie has shown nothing for me in the 1 and 1/2 seasons he can't cut it out in the premiership.

He's less of a natural athlete than Barton and less of a footballer. Doesn't justify the rubbish you've been coming out with as he's easily our 4th best in his natural position. We looked our absolute best last season when we were getting him on the ball as often as possible in CM.

Last season in the championship woopie f***ing do.

Considering it relates to all but a few of our players, and you were talking about him being unworthy in the context of the squad, yes. Yet more complete rubbish to add to the forest fire.

Got your cock out of colocini's arse yet ???

Would rather "see" ronaldo do it than Elmander.

Guthrie has been hung out to dry for a long time because the Manager almost always plays him out of position. Tells you a lot about what CH thinks of Routledge. A lot of shocking performances today.

I'm failing to see any rationale behind playing the utterly woeful Smith today, instead of what was surely the blindingly obvious solution to Barton's idiocy and Tiote's absence: playing Guthrie in the middle and Routledge on the right; barring Routledge having some sort of knock in which case you'd have to question why he'd travel at all. You have to feel sorry for Guthrie really - he's not a particularly great or even good midfielder by PL standards but what is he supposed to do when being consistently played out of position? Reminds me of Capello inexplicably playing Jags at RB on Wednesday. What does Hughton expect him to do?

Nolan was particularly ineffectual today (albeit not the worst on the pitch). But what was noticeable is how limited he looks without a Tiote 'destroyer' in the middle of the park, or the relative creativity of Barton on the right. Carroll did his best but was chasing a lost cause most of the time - a rerun of the England game again.

How many of them was he playing on the fking wing though.

Some players make the step-up from the championship some don't.

Has danny guthrie improved as a footballer at NUFC nope, that doesn't bode well for the future.

Ronaldo's as much in Coloccini's arse as you are blindly hating Guthrie.

Hasn't played in his natural position yet this season.

I'll reserve judgement as to whether he can step up this season.

I dont care that it was the Championship, when he played CM for us last year (for a extended period) he was solid. Give him a fking chance

Rather than being 'solid', he was our best midfielder.

A few, but is he starting to learn how to play on the wing though ???  After being played out of position for a number of games, you start to change your game a little, i've seen nothing as him as a player he's learning to play in that position.

Does the changing of him in CM and us playing better relate to him playing in CM or us having a proper RM in routledge playing ???

Fucking hell. Again with judging him on his ability to play out of position.

You're mental.

Exactly. How come Nolan or Smith dont get put on the wing?

Neesy, how do you expect Guthrie to improve if the only plays every 3rd or 4th game, and out of position.

Training ???  Surely Hughton will be trying him out in RM in training in preparation for games.
