And people will obviously ignore the fact that one of the reasons for that is because pre-2006 the spending was £258,845,000 outbound, and inbound was only £123m.

The 06-11 figure is a bit distorted because it doesn't include the Souness spending spree, and does include the Carroll money.

 

I've seen tables from that source before, and I'm not completely convinced. Did Liverpool and Spurs both spend more than Chelsea over the last 5 years?

Wages bills might tell a completely different story, though.

 

This. I'd like to see a table that factored wages in. A standard Arsenal dig is "look how little we spend on players" to which the standard Spurs response is "look how much you spent on wages".
