NUFC transfer rumours in the press

Recommended Posts

Thing is, why are people flapping about strikers? We don't play an out and out 4-4-2, nor is our 4-3-3 based on 3 strikers. If one of Ba or Cisse is injured, the other pushes forward and we play Marveaux, or push up Cabaye, or push up Jonas, or play Shola etc etc.

We have options. Relax, man. This team minus Anita finishes 5th last season, why is the same squad now a 'farce'?

One striker would calm everybody down imo. I think we're still too light, unless you consider Shola ready to have an injury-free season, or Campbell ready to make the step up.

The fact that we have probably two of the best strikers in the league completely covers up that we have only Shola and Campbell in the wings. The difference in class/experience (for AC) there is staggering.

People say this every year. "Wait til the window closes" - clutching at straws-tastic.

We're done man. Pardew has said as much. You don't watch the market this late in the window.

2 1st team strikers fit at the moment with the next striker a 17 year old.  Utter farce.

The window hasn't closed yet you fucking nugget man.

You dont understand, have you seen these interviews with Pards? He comes across showing no signs of discontentment atall, but hes clearly gutted poor guy. He has to be, because theres people on a forum with far less information who are unhappy. Its the logical conclusion. Cant believe theyre doing this to him.

The only position we need to really strengthen is right back (or left back and move Santon). We are covered everywhere else even in a crisis. This isn't Football Manager, it's real life. You don't sign players just for the hell of it.

This, couple of excellent posts mate

We don't need to strengthen our striking department in quality. We just need depth. As I said before, the defence needs quality, the attack needs quantity.

We're alright now. This squad was alright all last season. Alright enough to finish above all but four teams. Not everything is a 'farce', or an 'embarassment', or 'pathetic', or 'disgraceful'.

Surely by now you can see that the way the club has gone about its business in the transfer market in the past couple of years is worthy of patience and respect. They sign the right players at the right time if it's the right price for the club. No other way.

Nobody has said to sign players just for the hell of it.  Taylor or Colo gets injured and we're back to Williamson so it would be nice to have another decent CB in.  Simpson is the weak link so we needed a right back.  We've lost Best and Lovenkrands so our third choice striker is now Shola, we could have strengthened there.  Sensible squad strengthening, nothing football manager about it.

Don't forget that others have strengthened, significantly in 6th place Chelsea's case.

A 5th place squad last season isn't necessarily a 5th place squad this season.

We don't even have the same squad. We're two forwards short for a start (albeit Lovenkrands didn't really feature)

Not ideal not getting a striker and right back but tbh not the end of the world assuming we keep the players we have. Don't think Carroll would have been a good signing and would rather we had gone for Zaha or someone similar, young and happy to play second fiddle to Ba/Cisse which I don't think Carroll would have. Right back was main concern and still will be. Simpson is absolute shit but hope that Perch/Tav/Ferguson can force their way into the team at full back to kick Simpson out.

We can only hope that Marveux and STaylor stay fit and we don't lose Cisse/Ba through injuries. Will cost us a fortune in January for a striker though if they go to ACON as clubs will know we are desperate.

Personally looking forward to seeing Anita/Amalfatino/Bigi/Abedi/Tav/Sammy/Vuckic/Fergie this year, hopefully they all push on and keep the likes of Raylor/Simpson/Oberwank out of team by end of the season

So what happens if Senegal qualify for the ACON?

Shola will be our only striker and like last season proved during that period he can't play week in?

What next?
