Di Canio will deck McClean within the first few weeks, for sure.

Was reading the Celtic forum and they seem deeply divided about Di Canio. Guess it could go either way.

And they have it right. DiCanio's got a volatile image. Always going to rile more than he gets adherents

I was delighted with his appointment from a purely selfish view as a Newcastle fan. But the OTT response and soap box ranting has amazed me.

thankfully, some have been doing the p*ss taking route and slowly that'll take over from the strutting orator types.

This is just too good to allow to be bogged down in pompous lecturing.  O0

Ignorance is not an excuse for stupidity.

Yeah, let's only say and do the things that one person on the entire thread wants to say and do. Imagine that!

Hands up if you agree with this statement

By deeply divided I don't mean they're internally conflicted, I mean that half of them think he's a legend and half of them think he's a Nazi c***.

But thats just fans views on ALL players isn't it ? Remember some of the attitudes to Shearer in his last couple of seasons on N/cle forums ?

Some were furious that others adopted a "What have you done for me lately" approach to him - some even slagged him off when we went down, forgetting what he'd done for years.

DiCanio at Sunderland has already roused more interest in an already white hot game against them up here....

And what was I saying about what "fascism" actually stood for ?

And you and your mate walked right into it, and proved it

The noon April Fools deadline has passed and it can now be revealed that Marty took training today, and right wing loony Paolo di Canio is not the new Manager of Sunderland AFC.

Got to admit they really got me this time.

But what you said about fascism is entirely irrelevant because it was incorrect.

Tricky this like, if you try to stop people doing jobs because of their political beliefs (racists and hatred of a certain type of people obviously shouldn't be allowed), how far do you go. Stopping Mclean or MON working in football because of their reported support of the IRA.

As long as the politics stays out of the football i dont see the problem, and when it does as in the case of Mclean, the clubs/FA deal with it.

The difference being that those people were mildly upset over Shearer's hand rarely used for celebrating a goal in a sport and this is about people being upset over Di Canio's hand being used as 'sieg heil'

Colossal difference.

You took it the wrong way.

You have jumped on your high horse and began lecturing other people.

Just because people tend to call parking wardens or whatever fascists it doesn't mean the dictionary definition becomes just someone who orders you about, man

'Well my neighbour's a Nazi but that could just mean he's very picky about spelling" :D
