Newcastle reportedly opened up the bidding proceedings with an offer of two million Euros and then thought: ‘why not splash the cash’ and increased their bid to 2.75 million Euros. Both bids were rejected and as a result Newcastle ended up bringing in no players on transfer deadline day, but is Kante any good? Kante plays in central midfielder for Caen and was signed from Boulogne earlier in the summer, so why the Magpies thought he would move on again so soon I have no idea. The 22-year-old Frenchman who is Malian origin has gone from strength to strength at Caen in the short time he’s been there and has already netted a Ligue 2 goal this season. He was named as Caen’s player of the month for August, won due to his high work rate and energy as a box-to-box midfielder – not exactly what Newcastle needed.
