No one can simply look ‘at the published expenditure’ and then accurately workout what each individual  player is earning. And if during negotiations players requests are leaked to the press at every juncture the club is gonna become a pariah.

Obviously you can't work out each individual wage from the entire wage expenditure, but it's fairly easy to piece together when there are numerous reports from tier 1 sources about what each players wage is. 

It’s the same at most clubs - their fans keep a very close eye on all news as well as having personal contacts. If you do it long enough you get a feel for what’s most likely true, what’s most likely bullshit and what’s most likely a party line being fed to somebody. I don’t generally have the foggiest idea what’s going on at any club bar Spurs, but I’d back myself to make a fair call on the likely truthiness of most “news” about us.

Regarding the Glazer vs Ashley discussion in the other thread.

 

No need to compare them, both of them are/were leeches draining the soul out of the club. Thats all that matters.

I would pity Man Utd fans if most of them weren't such entitled bastards.

And despite Newcastle fans having extreme delusions of grandeur, I did pity them during Ashley's reign.

PIF showed we werent delusional. All it took was someone able who could afford PSR losses to make us a better club than Man u.

None of us thought we were as big as Liverpool, Man Utd and Arsenal. But about the same level as Villa, Everton and Spurs. And looking at both the Premier League and the total English football history that seems about right I think.

Yeah mental when the mackems call us deluded too. We spent the Ashley era saying we should be 5th-7th sort of area. First 3 full seasons without Ashley that’s exactly what we did.
