Dwight Gayle (now playing for Hibernian)

Recommended Posts

To me he looks slightly offside. Could argue he's just on. Either way we don't make these decisions, refs do. And he had a great chance in the 6 yard box to make it null and void whether he was off or on, and he didn't take.

This for a poacher who does nothing else productive on the pitch, is not good enough imo.

But your criticism is that he didn't do anything, but he did because he scored a perfectly fine goal that should have stood.

Think the words I used was 'he didn't do much'. And he didn't. If he had scored we would have drew the match 1-1. The linesman decided he didn't score so he didn't. We don't make these decisions. Gayle had the chance to rectify it as I just said, and he failed to take it.

Doesn't work like that man.

If that goal counts, we shut up shop in the way Benitez does best and we see that game out.

I can't even remember this sitter he apparently missed

He had a back post header from a Ritchie cross with just the keeper to beat and mistimed it heading off their defender with it heading off target, if that's the one you mean?

That's nonsense like, your criticism is with Gayle, not the officials.

I was a bit harsh.

You don't seem to understand how football works.

He's started one game in dokeys and look fine. Scored a goal that was probably unfairly chalked off and you're focusing on him missing a good chance to berate him? Howay man

His finishing is good, that's never been an issue. Him missing one good chance isn't evidence of him being shite or that he will consistently be missing sitters.

To me, if the officials decide a goal is offside, I move on and so should the player involved. Gayle had 90 minutes to score a goal deemed legitimate, and he didn't, regardless of whether you view his goal on or offside. Therefore my original post of 'didn't do much' is perfectly valid. Because he didn't do much, did he?

Saying he "didn't do much" is hardly berating him like mate.
