Didn't realise penalties didn't count as goals.

well it's a bit rich attributing them to a comparative tally between strikers when only one ever takes them..

When he's dead that might be a good idea, but until then it's just sad.

I take your point but Bobby's got one at Ipswich and he's not dead. I'm not desperate for the statue, it's just that a big deal was made out of it and then nothing has happened. Maybe Alan didn't want the statue but he seemed to think it was an honor when it was first mentioned. There may be a perfectly innocent and reasonable reason why it hasn't been made yet but I just wondered.

He's unlikely to be the Ipswich manager again though. Shearer could easily be a future Toon manager.

Exactly. Was this Iraq 2003, or St James' 2010 after Shearer's steered us to relegation?

Iraq 2003 mate.

Not so sure, look at the trademark one armed salute, although there's probably a bit too much hair.

going by the slack jawed locals and post apocolyptic scenery, I'd say it was sunderland and a statue of Roy Keane

but where's his dog?

I think there's too many people who support this club that slag Shearer off for no good reason. Wihout him we'd have done a hell of a lot worse than we did, a statue won't happen because for some bizarre reason there's a portion of ungrateful Newcastle fans who don't like the man who was perhaps this clubs greatest ever player. Can't understand it myself.  bluesigh.gif

Agreed, over 200 goals in ten years and injuries yet some people still don't like him!

The normal reason is he was selfish, selfish that a manager kept begging him to play and he gave in.

Oh and he helped get rid of the footballing god that was Bellamy!

I know you are being sarcastic but to people that think that:

Bellamy did that himself, he is a A* tosser

Not true, throwing a chair at Carver, refusing to play on the wing, faking injury and being accused of hitting women all points to a true legend!

It's Darrel Hair's statue in Pakistan, pictured signalling a no ball.

you've been accused of liking fat munters Jon, is that a fair assessment of your character?

and he played on the wing for fucking yonks, well to be accurate, in a position not wide enough to put a decent cross in, and not narrow enough to produce an outlet for attack, in front of my very eyes, a footballing crime no less

and Dyer talking about refusing to play?  bluelaugh.gif
