It is as simple as that.

If he fails to get us in to Europe for the second season running then I don’t see how the club would see him as still being suitable for the job, other than being a nice guy.

The only thing "simple" here is your rationale.

Luckily, the powers that be will understand the restrictions, limitations and obstacles thrown Howe's/NUFCs way and the pathway forward.

Unlike the divvies on here and X they'll not be thinking The Special One could swagger straight in and win the league with a bunch of players that take turns getting called "utter shit"

😂😂😂😂😂😂

even if they’ve failed to back him for a 3rd window running?

We have the 8th highest wage bill in the country. Getting into Europe is over-achieving.

If they don’t back him in January and we are not at our PSR limit then I would say they have already made the decision on his future.

Right bunch of nasty bastards our owners it seems.

I am amazed that anyone who thinks that Man City should look to sign Harvey Barnes could have the audacity to call anyone a divvy to be honest.

Which could be down to backing him "too much" financially (relative to our PSR limit) overall in the 4 windows before that. We do need to change the squad up though, which probably means that Howe needs to accept giving up on someone of value.

We wouldn’t, the point being what you pay in wages doesn’t automatically transfer in to how good your squad is, when you could easily overpay on wages.

Not really when it all contributes towards PSR.

Yep. Transfer windows dictated by Ashworth, Staveley and Ghodoussi. All of whom are no longer at the club. If he isn’t backed next month it may be for the reason you stated, but not because they’ve already decided to can Howe.

You think that Mehrdad Ghodoussi and Amanda Staveley were selecting the players to be signed and Howe was just there to coach them?  Or that Ashworth had that kind of say from 2023?

Yeah, not buying that.

So if we gave all of our players a £50k a week pay rise then it wouldn’t be overachieving?

Look at the teams that pay more than us and how much more they pay. If we outperform any of the top 6 wage payers we're over-achieving. More of a marginal thing versus the likes of Villa.

No not saying that at all. Howe definitely had an input and in their first window we were in a relegation fight: the owners were probably a bit too keen to give Howe what he wanted/what we needed and spend their way out of trouble.

I think he's also been guilty of being too loyal to some players who we needed to move on and that affects our transfer deals down the line. But I guess that's also part of building squad loyalty as well. That's why I will be happy if Mitchell takes over this side and Howe steps back a bit.

There are clubs that I wouldn’t expect us to rival in terms of performances like Liverpool, Arsenal, Man City and Chelsea but there is no reason why we shouldn’t be competing with Spurs, Man Utd and Villa.

The whole argument that someone has a more valuable squad or pay higher wages automatically means that our level is 8th is ridiculous, as teams that pay higher wages under achieve, or have European games that stretch their squad so they can’t compete to the level they want every week.

Does it mean that if any team that pays less wages than us finishes above us this season we have underachieved? What about if we finish 8th but Forest finish 7th and Man Utd 9th? Is that an underachievement?

Should we even be celebrating beating Brentford last night as we pay far more wages than them?

It is nonsense.

The notion he won’t be backed just feels like the latest projection of pending doom, seems to be a comfort blanket to some to want to cling on to the idea of darkness and misery, quite odd.

Has anyone said he won’t be backed?
