There are so few teams at that level actually playing each other at 5s anyway, hopefully needing fewer players will encourage more teams. Will need more coaches, re-marking of pitches etc. our club have loads of under 7’s, it’s going to be really hard to make it work.  glad my lad will get extra 7v7 time rather than moving to 9v9. Think he’ll develop much better.

They aren't going to be there to coach but to facilitate....no referees either. 5 a side pitch to be split into two, coned off and 2 games ongoing width ways of the pitch

Fine if they’re all part of the same club. Does the game stop if the ball from the other pitch comes on? If they’re sharing the side line it’s going to.  i don’t hate the idea, it’s just going to take a lot of planning from clubs to sort. There’s already a shortage of coaches.  i think the 7v7 is a great thing though. We seem to be in a race to get to 11v11. Even my lads coaches are arguing about this as they want them playing 11’s asap. Madness.
JoeyBartoon Posted Friday at 18:38 Share Posted Friday at 18:38 I run my own sports coaching business and have been coaching football sessions for children aged 4 to 8 for the past 15 years. Based on my experience,I’ve found that 3v3 and 4v4 formats are far more beneficial for development. These smaller-sided games allow every child to have more touches on the ball, better opportunities to find space, and more time to experiment with different skills. For instance, in 3v3 games, I’m able to create triangles that encourage effective positioning and support.  On the other hand, I find 7v7 to be more challenging when it comes to player development, as the ball often becomes a magnet for the kids, limiting their involvement and slowing their growth. Belfast Boy Posted Friday at 19:10 Share Posted Friday at 19:10 What age do they bring goalkeeper in then? Does at start at 5v5? My two still play high level now aged 21, one in the US and one at Loughborough. The keeper who played right up to u19 international level and is now on a scholarship in America was never interested in playing outfield and was a keeper from the start.
