That website has listed our tickets since last season at least, as well as many other clubs.

You'd think if they wanted it stopped it would have been by now ?‍♂️

When you have unlimited memberships it’s impossible to stop really. If they get banned they just sign up under a different name and stick another £30 quid on the ticket price

That’s true but being a member only gives you a tiny chance of getting a ticket anyway. It’s not like it’s a good bet.

I guess if you sell your ticket for £200 it’s worth it, but you would still need about 20 memberships to have a reliable chance of getting a ticket.

But the £30 is nowt for a membership if one ticket success gets you a profit of 100-200 quid. That ticket will potentially win 5-6 tickets a season even if you're only mildly successful on it.

Then if you have 10-20 memberships the multiplier effect goes up each time. Every single of those memberships will be profitable over the course of the season, and even if some of them aren't the more you have the more you are de-risking the overall process because of the profit margins for each success.

The current system of unlimited untrackable memberships, ballots, digital tickets and demand exceeding supply is a ticket touts dream. For some people ticket touting is a full-time job, not just a side hustle. They will have hundreds of accounts applying for football and gig tickets, bots and macros doing the work.

I have absolutely no doubt there will be professional touts with 10-20 accounts, each with fake addresses, running off hidden IP addresses. It's why it's so difficult to get a ticket compared to last year because the total pool of accounts applying will be much higher.

It's broadly easy to solve too. You just have limited membership sale during the summer and this is linked to a form of ID. This prevents multiple accounts and also means if you're caught touting then you're banned for good. It's not nice that it needs to be tied to a formal ID but it's an instant solution.

The club won't do it, though, because the unlimited memberships is a money maker. Plus tourists who can afford/justify to pay £200 for a ticket will be more likely to spend on merch than your regular matchgoer.

? Based on what?

just a feeling where there’s money there’s corruption and fraud. Boyd Weddel is still employed by the club too… I might be massively wide of the mark (not for them first time) but there’s always been insiders across all clubs exploiting their access to tickets.

That and they’ve pretty much introduced it in a relaxed way to away tickets in a way and look at the fuss that has caused.

Like I said earlier reverting back to physical tickets would eradicate this 99%. If touts can only sell them face to face locally you’ve instantly decreased the geographical area of sale as unable to send instantly payment and electronically transfer ticket and increased the jeopardy on the seller (as ticket not sold until 24/48hrs before game and could be let down by buyer or confronted by an official or someone physically intimidating etc. Those selling from an ST would have to trust that person with their ST and have to hang around for them to return it post match etc.

At the very least this would drop the numbers and the prices.

Current set up is a ticket touts dream like

I’ve bought over 20 home tickets so far this season, helping mates get to the match

If I can get that many, a tout using a bot system will have got loads more

The tout could be based anywhere in the world, just profiting on the demand we have

Wouldn’t have been possible with paper tickets

There has to be a better option than using paper tickets man, you can't stay stuck in the 90s...

I'll be honest I much preferred the ticketing system in the 1990s than today's shambles. The only odd tout you seen was bloke on the street and it was a breeze to access the ground. No daft ballots or randomly allocated seating. It was just better.

Digital ticketing is a touts paradise and is the reason why more and more of these touting websites are springing up.

Touting could be fixed simply by requiring ID checks at the gates on a certain number of tickets. The fact that the tickets are digital doesn’t encourage touting in and of itself, it’s the lack of checks and balances on these third party websites that does so.

It's pointless to talk about paper tickets, that is never going to be the solution.

Not sure why pointless. It seems to solve 90% of the problem?

Only 100% method is full on ID checks to match up with purchaser and remove any transfer options. Would you prefer that?

Paper gives people a little flexibility and more importantly most likely the right people the flexibility who would likely pass on more honestly.

But giving a ticket to your mate or family member is not touting so the ID check stops genuine fans not just people who have bought from a re-seller.

We are struggling to get people in through the turnstiles now. The queues this season have been unprecedented. Adding further checks at the gates certainly isn't the answer.

Digital tickets should make it harder to tout, but at the minute, if anything, it’s making it easier.

If the digital aspect was more advanced, so tickets were accessed through some kind of NUFC app, and were only transferrable from one members app to another members app, then there would be a record of every time a ticket was transferred. But at the minute it’s just forward the email on to someone and away you go.

Maybe that’s what the end goal is, but we’ll see.

If you want to transfer to a mate or family member you do so through the club website, in exactly the same way as you would do if you were selling on your ticket through the club.

It works perfectly fine for gig tickets and takes 30 seconds.

Maybe. I think someone on here mentioned the club has an app in progress. Can other people not just share login details of these apps?

Also there’s always going to be 10% that don’t/won’t want digital tickets so a method needs to be found for them also.

This is exactly what I'm getting at
