Wallace
I like tickets. Have all mine for football, concerts and anything else since the 70s. Sad maybe but they bring back forgotten memories whenever I look through them.
AyeDubbleYoo
It's pointless to talk about paper tickets, that is never going to be the solution.

The only odd tout you seen was bloke on the street and it was a breeze to access the ground. No daft ballots or randomly allocated seating. It was just better. Digital ticketing is a touts paradise and is the reason why more and more of these touting websites are springing up. Touting could be fixed simply by requiring ID checks at the gates on a certain number of tickets. The fact that the tickets are digital doesn’t encourage touting in and of itself, it’s the lack of checks and balances on these third party websites that does so. Not sure why pointless. It seems to solve 90% of the problem? Only 100% method is full on ID checks to match up with purchaser and remove any transfer options. Would you prefer that? Paper gives people a little flexibility and more importantly most likely the right people the flexibility who would likely pass on more honestly. We are struggling to get people in through the turnstiles now. The queues this season have been unprecedented. Adding further checks at the gates certainly isn't the answer. SteV
Digital tickets should make it harder to tout, but at the minute, if anything, it’s making it easier. If the digital aspect was more advanced, so tickets were accessed through some kind of NUFC app, and were only transferrable from one members app to another members app, then there would be a record of every time a ticket was transferred. But at the minute it’s just forward the email on to someone and away you go. Maybe that’s what the end goal is, but we’ll see.

If you want to transfer to a mate or family member you do so through the club website, in exactly the same way as you would do if you were selling on your ticket through the club. It works perfectly fine for gig tickets and takes 30 seconds.

I think someone on here mentioned the club has an app in progress. Can other people not just share login details of these apps? Also there’s always going to be 10% that don’t/won’t want digital tickets so a method needs to be found for them also.

Guest
Aye, being able to just email the digital ticket to someone makes it far too easy for scammers and touts

You’ll never stop touting completely, bar perhaps really stringent ID checking, which we all probably want to stay away from. But there has to be a (technology-driven) way of making it a lot more difficult than it currently is.
LFEE
Just now, SteV said: You’ll never stop touting completely, bar perhaps really stringent ID checking, which we all probably want to stay away from. But there has to be a (technology-driven) way of making it a lot more difficult than it currently is. That’s the ultimate dilemma it seems. People don’t want to be subjected to touting but also want the freedom to transfer. It’s finding the sweet spot that reduces touting as much as possible and also gives a bit of freedom and goodwill. Hence why I keep going back to physical tickets ? If you are going to have touts then have them from the local area. They will become known and therefore won’t overstep the mark. Anything allowing faceless transactions will only encourage higher asking prices and fake tickets.

Was class being in the ground hours before KO trying to find the best vantage point. Only catering was a tiny one man hotdog stand in the corner of the Gallowgate. Still remember the season they removed the fences. Was like going from SD to HD vision.

AyeDubbleYoo
Well yeah, but then they would need the infrastructure to support both types of tickets. I guess at the moment they probably have that but I imagine the plan is to get rid of it.
