My personal take on 'free' transfers is that if you wouldn't be happy to spend £20m on the player, they aren't worth it.

 

DCL isn't worth it whatsoever.

The problem is that Eddie Howe, and a bunch of more knowledgeable people than you or I, might think its worth it.

Assumed this was an open message board where everyone could share their opinions on transfers.

 

Rather than a hive mind, you guys love the idea, I don't.

The way I look at it Liverpool had a situation a few years ago where they had 3 top forwards in Salah, Mane and Firmino. The backups weren't up to much but those 3 were freakishly resilient and played almost every game. We've arguably reached this point with our midfield already and are perhaps a signing away from having it in the 3 forward positions too. 

 

Liverpool then went a bit more scattergun and were able to have 5 or 6 good forwards for those 3 positions but we are miles away from that in terms of our budget. So you're looking at backups who will rarely play and you can go the Osula route or the DCL route or both.

 

Or the other option I'd like us to explore I guess is forwards with versatility, who can play predominantly wing or central when needed, which we sort of have with Gordon already. If the new RW can play striker then great, but we'd arguably still need another backup striker.

First season here like everyone he was rubbish. Found his feet in the Championship, steady the season we came back up and outstanding the year we finished 5th. He was an absolute parody every season after that.

what do you think a hypothetical synopsis of DCL would read like after 2/3 seasons here?
