Agreed - and again, the question has to be asked - why does the club have such a small scouting team, nearly five years after the takeover?  Why is Howe’s young nephew running the show in that department?  Who appointed him - and why?  Would Andy Howe be in a similar role at another major club?

He's not running the show. He never has. He's assistant head of recruitment - to Steve Nickson.

It's Steve Nickson who is working most closely with Ross Wilson on targets.

It's a false narrative - now widely accepted.  Fake news.

He's a scout who's been promoted to assistant head of recruitment and if reports are to be believed he headed up our disastrous incomings in the summer.

Either way, and as I've maintained from the day. He shouldn't be an employee of Newcastle united. Let him make his way in the game elsewhere.

Finally got round to watching the highlights of this.

Getting a bit repetitive saying this but our GK gifts them a goal whereas theirs pulls off a world class save.

I'd be putting in Ramsdale at this point tbh. He's not the answer but Pope is done.

Just been talking to my manager (Evertonian) about the match and he was saying we looked knackered like. Tbh, I didn't see that in our performance myself, but maybe that's because I only really watch Newcastle so have lost that sense of scale.

That's why I said this yesterday:

Wondering if there's any room in the smouldering aftermath of the weekend to remind ourselves of the toll on the squad atm...

Feel like it's broadly been forgotten about thanks to our mini resurgence where we miraculously looked really energetic against Villa and Qarabag.

The issue hasn't gone away and is only going to get worse, especially if there's illness in the squad now.
