Ilovetoon8788
I really do think the difficult fixtures are to blame. Our calendar is brutal.
Teslact
What were the tactics at 2-2? Yes Gordon lost the ball, but he was deep in right midfield and Everton instantly had 3 on 2. Looked like we were playing 2-2-6.

Probably not that smart a move to give all of your first teamers minutes in a match where you’re already miles ahead from the first leg just a few days before, then. The fixture congestion issue is real, but we haven’t helped ourselves.

We just had no control over the midfield - that's where we lost the game. And Pope being Pope. So you're basically saying we're a one man team, so we're not a good team 🤣. jack j
11 hours ago, Heron said: A good example of why football is a team game. Not one of the Everton side could claim to be beyond a 8 in terms of performance but they won because they were all 6 and above and collectively they were a solid 7 or 8. Look at the Newcastle side, and of course it is subject to opinion, but for me - Joelinton was really effective when moved inside. Sandro had a good game. Trips had a good game. Burn had a good game. Hall was decent as was Ramsay but whilst the remainder (for the most part) tried they weren't up to scratch and collectively as a team we made multiple significant mistakes and bad choices and lack of composure that led to losing a game that we realistically should not have lost. An overall 5. The first mistake was in Howe's set up - which he rectified at 1 down and not too far into the game. But the countless amounts of wrong decisions and poor execution of tasks led to a fairly un-glamorous win from a side that were pragmatic in their approach - as every David Moyes team has ever been. Special mention in magnanimous defeat for one of the greatest saves I've seen in person and it had to to be the obnoxious charva mackem twat that's Jordan Pickford. However, booing the team, the performance, players trying their best - whilst is everyone's prerogative is not my bag like. I'd reserve my boos and discontent for those who are seemingly willing to throw the towel in. Draw from that what you will. Dan Burn ploughing through 3 or 4 players falling and doing anything to protect that ball though was a beautiful moment - the essence of what it is all about. Passion. Desire. Un-faltering commitment. Burn got dragged all over the shop from Beto. Then Dewsbury Hall ran past him with ease for the last goal Thought it was.one of his worst games at centre back for us tbh

RS
I posted this in the pre-match: “It’s always a worry when the game before is played without 100% effort as I think it has a tendency to carry over into the next game. Hopefully not the case this time” So predictable. I’ve seen it so many times before, right the way back through following us as well.

Lush Vlad
8 hours ago, Maggies said: Agreed. We’ve conceded 23 goals at home this season in the league which is the 3rd worst. Our attacking numbers are ok. A lot of it stems from having a pair of awful goalkeepers. A dodgy keeper creates nervousness throughout the rest of the team. Take the bottom 3 out of it. Currently only Bournemouth and Leeds have conceded more. We’ve conceded 42 in 28. Games to still be played today which could change things slightly. Fulham v Spurs the main one, they’re on 41 each. I know all fans will blame mistakes, bad keeping etc. But how many of those have been of the soft as shit variety, calamitous defending or a keeping mistake, similar to yesterday’s three? We’ve become incredibly easy to score against and weak as fuck mentally. Being resolute, hard to beat and break down used to be a strength of ours under Howe. Clean sheets are a rarity these days. Eddie subbed on Hall, Gordon and Willock when we were 9-1 ahead against a terrible side with just over half an hour to go - Hall being our only LB worth playing the PL. It was utter madness - and I’m not having him complaining about European football in his post-match presser. He’s not managing the situation when he has the chance to do so. The rules change to SCR next season - any loan signings this season would have zero impact on our summer budget. PL SCR is assessed July-June in the season - there’s no longer a three year rolling number. Not making loan signings - especially looking at the GK and LB options - was absolutely suicidal, and the hallmark of the terrible transfer dealings at the club. Like hall, Anderson, Miley cases. That's another problem with Howe.
