Dokko
true, but with him being a youngster, i'm sure Cardiff had to pay us something. £500k IIRC Peanuts
Guest Bramble OG
Still runs around like a Headless chicken though, and still looks far too lightweight for the premiership, looks a good championship striker - hopefully thats something we never need. Guest smoggeordie
true, but with him being a youngster, i'm sure Cardiff had to pay us something. £500k IIRC Peanuts I can see him moving if they don't go up. Pompey, Wigan maybe? I'm off if we don't go up! Feb 13 2007 Darren Witcoop, South Wales Echo MICHAEL CHOPRA has sensationally threatened to quit Cardiff City if they fail to win promotion to the Premiership at the end of the season. Cardiff's in-form striker, who currently leads the Championship scoring charts with 18 goals, warned the Bluebirds he is keen to make a swift return to the top-flight - with or without them. Chopra quit home-town club Newcastle United to drop down a division when he made a £500,000 switch to Ninian Park last summer. And while his goals have given sixth-placed City a real chance of earning elevation to the promised land of the Premiership, the Geordie frontman has expressed his intention to be there even if Dave Jones' side are not. Asked about his prospects of returning to the top level next season, the 23-year-old revealed to Radio Five Live: 'My main aim this season is to get promoted with Cardiff. 'And hopefully I can. 'But if I don't get promoted with Cardiff, hopefully I can be in the Premiership next season with someone else.' Chopra - who has netted six goals in his last four games - has become an instant hit with the Bluebirds fans in his first season in South Wales. But he says he has never lost his desire to be performing on the highest stage once again. 'Once you've had a taste of Premiership football you don't really want to lose it,' he added. 'But I had to lose it as I wasn't playing with Newcastle. 'I made my mind up I wanted first-team football and needed to play week in week out.' If i've read correctly? Guest Ridzuan
I dont think he was trying to say that he is going to quit Cardiff if they didnt get promoted next season. This is what he had to say regarding the misunderstanding. Cardiff ace Michael Chopra has moved to reject talk he could quit the club if they fail to win promotion to the Premiership. In a recent interview the former Newcastle man intimated he could look to move on if Cardiff fail to reach England's top-flight. However, the Championship's top scorer insists his comments were misinterpreted and that he is happy at Cardiff. "I think what I've said has been misunderstood a touch last night," Chopra told the club's official website. I do want to play in the Premiership and ideally with Cardiff City. "I stress with Cardiff City because I'm loving it down here and the fans and club have been magic with me. "Like any ambitious striker though, I've set my sights on playing at the highest level at some stage in my career. "That means at some stage, while I'm still young, I'd like to get up there - as all the rest of the club would." Anyway,Im really impressed with his performance this season.I always think him as a good player and he has proved it with Cardiff.I think his style of playing is more suited to the championship.I can remember last season when we loan him to 2nd division clubs,he did well but when we give him the chance of playing in the Premiership,he failed to impress. But I still think he can make it to the big stage and I hope Cardiff will get promoted next season to see how will he perform in the big stage. Cajun
As others have said, he has found his level. If he came back here I have little doubt he would be 4th choice striker at best and he obviously wouldn't be happy with that. He isnt good enough to be one of the first two strikers so we should forget about him.
Guest eyeball_tickler
could anyone else honestly see ameobi scoring 20+ goals by February in a fairly average championship team?
Cajun
Its possible, could anyone see Rasiak doing it?

Magpie
Absolutely over the knot he's doing great down there, but simply wasn't good enough to play regularly (which is what he wanted) for us. Definitely found his level.
Guest TheOrder
Just hope the lads wanking over Nugent etc will understand when we don't go for him in the transfer window. Thats his level, obviously.

I was thinking about this earlier, is Nugent really any better than Chopra or Rasiak?

He was playing against Chopra in this game and didn't score. got brought down for a pen, which Chopra also did, but Chopra also scored 2 and hit the bar with a free-kick

Sima
could anyone else honestly see ameobi scoring 20+ goals by February in a fairly average championship team? Yes, quite easily infact.
skryp2nit3
I dont think he'll ever be good enough for us but I believe he can be a decent premiership striker. One thing I'm certainly surprised at is the number of freekicks he's scored. I'm sure most of us didnt know either, that he's good at setpieces.
