football tactics that boil your piss

just seen Scotland do this, but Milner does it aswell

winger travelling in posession over the half way line, not challenged or put under too much bother, at halfway between the goal line and the half way line he looks up, and just lobs a ball vaguely at a group of two or three attackers

now, a good portion of times over a return of 50/50, you won't regain posession, and if you do get a head to it, you need neck muscles like Arnie and the coordination of Rain Man to have a chance of scoring

what's the point FFS?

thats where even a half decent manager / coach earns his money.

It cant be difficult to teach a young professional footballer that if there is no obvious pass on then just retain possession until one is.

Seems so simple doesnt it ????

Think it's highly unfair to single out milner. Despite his lack of pace he's one of the only members of our squad prepared to try and beat players.

Agree with the sentiment though, absolutley infuriating and ineffective unless your bolton.

the kid obviously has talent but if he hasnt got anyone with any sense guiding him along and bollocking him for it, then will never learn.

Granted, common sense should tell him not to play aimless balls into no-one but I stall say the greater responsibility comes with the coaching staff. If you get into habits of always, or as near as damn-it, trying to play simple passes to team mates, then in the heat of a game, it comes naturally.

Then comes the argument of on-pitch communication. In possession, a team mate shoudl be shouting and telling him what his pass should be and what his options are

It annoyed me for years when Beckham kept doing it for England.

I don't mind it if wingers do it occasionally as it can sometimes create a good chance for the team, but if they do it all the time it shows a lack of composure and creativity.
