gutted.  I was really impressed with Kim Chi Woo and Oh Beum Seok (the two full backs) - infinitely better than Carr and Baba ...tho not suggesting we should get them.

Cho Jae Jin would be a good buy tho.  Good back up TARGET MAN to Dukes.  and would bring in lots of popularity from asia...a ashley acquisition imo

Get in there! :clap2: I'm absolutely estatic. ;D  Glad we're meeting SA and not Japan. Although it will still be tough against them.

Now we've sent this dirty, pathetic excuse of a team to the finals.

Better luck next time.

Bring defenders who can challenge without ripping off legs, a keeper who doesn't need to call the physio every five minutes, and use a tactic other than "let's put 10 men on defense and wait for the Koreans to screw up."

We'll do that then.

BAGHDAD - Two suicide car bombings struck soccer fans in Baghdad as they were celebrating Iraq’s victory in the Asian Cup semifinal on Wednesday, killing at least 50 people and wounding more than 136, officials said.

The victims were among the thousands of revelers who took to the streets of the capital after the country’s national soccer team beat South Korea to reach the tournament’s final against Saudi Arabia on Sunday in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The first attack took place about 6:30 p.m. when a bomber exploded in a crowd of people cheering near a well-known ice cream parlor in Baghdad’s western neighborhood of Mansour, according to police and hospital officials. At least 30 people were killed and more than 75 wounded, the officials said.

Another suicide car bomber detonated his payload about 45 minutes later in the midst of dozens of vehicles filled with revelers near an Iraqi army checkpoint in the eastern district of Ghadeer, killing at least 20 people, including two soldiers, and wounding nearly 61, area officials said.

And there in lies why Australia will never win against a well drilled team, Viduka isn't a target man. Duncan Ferguson is a target man, Brian McBride is a target man.

Well done to Iraq, wouldn't mind seeing Haidar Abdul Amer, Iraq central defender get an opportunity to prove himself at a decent level, he looked very solid and comfortable on the ball.

Dukes isn't a target man?? I think u have ur argument mixed up.  You're saying that in your opinion, Viduka is NOT a good target man.  In my humble opinion, I'm pretty sure one of the reasons Big Sam bought Viduka is to play him as a target man. Assuming Big Sam plays a similar 4-3-3 to what he played at Bolton, Dukes will play the position Kevin Davies was playing - as a target man with Martins and Owen playing off him. In relation to Australia, throughout the world cup last year and this year's asian cup with the exception of the Japan match, Viduka played as a targetman.  Ferguson was a targetman, McBride is a targetman and Viduka is a targetman.

btw I hope Iraq go on to win. beat both my teams Australia and Korea. good luck.

Korea and Japan will be worth watching. apparently some japanese fans rocked up at the Adelaide casino when during the penalties and clapped when korea lost. same thing happened at the Rosemont with Korean clapping the japanese defeat. There's so much LOVE in the air....I would jus LUV it if we beat Japan! Jus LUV it!

if the saudi go and win the tournament, he should be the MVP because he is their most influential player. not just a very good striker, he is willing dropped down to midfield and very often tracks back and defend better than their defenders, simply tremendous workrate. the espn-star sports pundits have already called him worldclass, i think its too much, top 3 strikers in asia i would say .he has matured since WC2006, i think he is more than ready for european league. definitely not the highest level, a move to the turkish or dutch league would be a good challenge for him.

it's true he is world class...... fantastic dribbling, amazing technique... good skill... quite pacey... calm and cool finishing... that headed goal... against Indonesia.... is amazing... run so fast.... but still can direct it perfectly to the goal.... at the corner... he really could cut the premiership.... and i don't surprised if he will be the one of leading goalscorer... only what i doubt... saudi's never let their player go abroad to europe... i guess

He had a 6M price tag on him the last time a club tried to buy him :D

middle eastern players need to get out of their comfort zone, they are born with talent and with european competition they can improve their national team to compete with nations from other continents. players like nawaf al temyat, mohammed noor are too good for the local league and should have tried to materialise transfer to europe 5 years ago. this time yasser is more prepared than the two and it appears that he has the right attitude. i think he can emulate sami al jaber, just need to move to suitable club (im not a fan of his playing style and saw his decision to move to england was not wise).

He did play for Wolves, and fucked up big time and fall out with the club because of his wage demands

But i agree with your statment, the thing is they are very well paid in Saudi Arabia, like i said before players like Yasser Al-Qahtani are valued for prices like 6M, and i don't think any europian club will be intrested in paying that much money for a player who never really played in a major league before, Yasser's talents are really good but it will be a gamble for any team who trys to sign him, Mohammed Husain (Bahraini international who made the assist for the first goal vs Korea) had a trial with Leeds, but they turned him down for fitness reasons, Ali-AlHabsi the Oman GK plays for Bolton,  Husain Yasser the Egyptian born Qatari International had trials with Manchester United and played a season with Man City (Maybe Dr.Spectrum can help with him) but overall i don't think many clubs are intrested in signing Middle Eastern players at the moment.
