Because it gets Simpson back into defence, exactly where he should be. -

This is turning out to be a terrible day for us. Did we actually bring someone on for Enrique? Or is it Ameobi? -

Taking Barton out, and then putting Taylor in, that's always going to weaken our team. I'd forgotten (thankfully) just how poor Taylor is. -
Spent long enough watching him. Never actually made a bid though. Maybe they didn't see him as compatible with Carroll. I've only seen one match with Copper, latest Old Firm. My impression after that game, is that he's a man with the nose for a goal: good finisher, good runs. But he's not a Bellamy type of player. Which probably what we were after when looking for a striking partner for Carroll.. Or am I completely off the mark now? Hooper you mean? He's a striker who can either sit right on the last defender, or drop deep and use his pace to turn them. Great finisher and a good goal-poacher. He's never really been one to come and get the ball and dribble through 4 defenders, but since going to Celtic he seems more capable of that. He scored a stupidly high amount of goals for a very poor team last season, and he certainly made the right move going to an easier league than the English premiership. He'll be there in he next couple of years though, without doubt.

Hooper? No way! He's in no way premier league class! As someone who watched him week in, week out, I disagree strongly. Scored more for a poor Scunthorpe team than Carroll did for a rampant Newcastle team last season. I guarantee that Hooper will play for England one day.
-
He was FORCED to hand that transfer request in. [/obviously] He loved and still loves the club. He's have played for peanuts if Ashley had only given him a hugh and told him how much he loved him. Carroll was only ever interested in the future of NUFC, until we forced him out into the cold

Sorry, I fail to see it as stealing. Surely Barca had the opportunity to keep him there? Or is there some kind of loophole I don't know about? There is a loophole. We can't offer 16 year olds professional contracts. English clubs can. Same way we lost Cesc (and Piqué, and Mérida, and Pacheco...). But you signed Messi at 13 didn't you? Or was there still a change he could have gone somewhere else for a few years?
-
I've been saying for a while that we need to sign Hooper before he gets the England call up (which he will, as he's much better than Bothroyd. I can see Liverpool taking him in a year or two.
-
Arsenal's best player last night was English. Many many years since I've said that.
-
I fear that might happen. Did Konchesky play for Pardew at West Ham? Please let this not happen. He was gash last night playing against Scunthorpe!
-
You mean you can't wait to see Messi and Pedro destroy him, like they do pretty much every other fullback in the world? Didn't necessarily mean "our" wingers, Ribery had him in his pocket last season and his frustration led to that idiotic sending off. Cronaldo would laugh all the way to Van Der Sar's goal too. So apart from the 4 best wingers in the world.......

I know we're all going mad about how shit we are, but I have to say Arsenal are looking the best team in the league today. Absolutely awesome. -
