Can't wait to get to work on Tuesday to my office full of Dull fans. Not gonna hear the end of this one. Still, at least it's a Newcastle match which will only take half an hour to get to.

Like Owen's lucky header against Sunderland, where the ball just happened to go towards where he was running.

read my post carefully. I did say that he prove me wrong. It is a fact that no one significant and most likely no one was interested in him but us because of his age and also, he is an average player. That is why last summer, i posted that if we are in for him, we almost 100% to get him and i was disappointed. He is actually part of Marseille's most criticised defence in recent years in tandem with their underperformance. He was also rotated to CB just to find the right position for him and his defence partners amid a very fragile defence. But i have since said i was impressed. Without meaning to sidetrack too much from this thread, Beye is far from an average player. Up there with the best right backs in the league this season. That's not what he's saying. He's saying that despite the fact that all of their fans not wanting to sell him, they actually thought he was rubbish. It's nonsense whichever way you look at it (especially as he rates David Weir)

Chris Mort's departure confirmed. Derek Llambias is new Managing Director.

No comments on the fact that the new chairman gets twice as much as the old chairman got criticised for taking despite presiding over the club's worst season in the premiership, sacking a manager mid season without a replacement lined up, and failing to land any of the new manager's transfer targets (all things the old chairman would surely have been crucified for)? Most of those can be blamed on the appointment of the previous managers by the previous chairman though. Unless you want to blame Mort for the poor state Souness/Roeder/Allardyce left the club in? -
Chelsea = £257.05m Man United = £78.05m I get your point though. What's even "funnier" is we're at £42.95m and can't even finish top half. Not always about the money though is it. Not really a true reflection though, as Man U have been building this squad year on year, whereas Chelsea just went out and bought about 30 players over the course of 3 or 4 years. They are now both spending at about the same level (in my opinion) to maintain their control over the league. As for bringing more rules... I'd be fucking happy if they just enforced the ones we already have. I noticed on at least 2 occasions last night, Ronaldo went down, clearly looking for a free kick, and the ref waved him up, implying he was diving. Now, why does he not get booked? Obviously, it was not just Ronaldo, but the point stands. And when Drogba got sent off, he was probably treated harshly, I mean, they were all at it. More cards should have been shown, not necessarily red though... Ronaldo went down after being tackled, and the ref waved him up. The reason he wasn't booked was he didn't dive, but it wasn't a foul. If there's anyone out there who's gutted about Man United winning (as I am); at least it's not Liverpool.

Is it worth me posting in this thread, or do people already know my views?

Thats not why he is hated I know, but it certainly helps.
-
Absolutely gutted watching Man United lift the trophy. Now we've got to put up with their fans talking about it for the next 12 months. Chelsea deserved to win last night, and personally I felt gutted for JT. Still, he's English, so we've got to hate him. If Chelsea actually invested in a couple of strikers who don't give up after 2 minutes of being on the pitch, they'd be unbeatable.

Seeing Chelsea win 6 or 7 nil will also be a good game tbh mate.
-
Man United to win 1-0. I'll be supporting Chelsea though

If stories are to believed, Berb is staying for one more year.

So you're not too impressed with Ashley and Morts "plan" to find all these 17 year old Gazza's then instead of getting back asap ? Neither am I. And significantly, neither is the manager. I always agreed with you over that point (in fact I think we were the only ones making it in one thread). However, we did go for Modric, and Woodgate, so the argument doesn't really work anymore. Unless you think they weren't real bids, like the Rooney one? Lets put it this way. I can understand a player choosing manu before us, but I don't understand them choosing Spurs. Have a look at the reaction to the JImmy Greaves comments about Newcastle not being as big as Spurs last month ? Thats some turnaround, the amount of people now saying that they are .......... Currently, Spurs are better than us. They finished above us in the league and won a cup. Next season might be different, but I suspect most footballers are looking at a short term approach these days, seeing how easy it is to get transferred. IN that case, the sooner we make some sort of statement of intent the better, wouldn't you agree ? Absolutely. If only the £22m bid for Modric had come off eh. of course, just like the bid for Rooney, but we weren't in competition with Manu for Modric though. We offered more money. What else were we supposed to do? If wages don't attract the player, then it's the job of the manager to sell the club to him. Where did we fail with the Modric bid in your opinion?

20 goals in 64 games in the league, including sub appearances. 55 starts. Anyhow. He's got a good record. He's got a great record considering how shit his first touch is

Family? Wey his brother Tomi is down south anyway. He's currently in Scunthorpe, which is north. Cheers

I'm not manipulating them at all. http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/football/obafemi-martins.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obafemi_Martins As for your comment about sub appearances - has he never scored after coming on? Because if he has, you can't count it? (honest question by the way, I honestly don't know if he ever has) What do you mean I'm eager to please? (Edit, do'h ) If you're looking for stats mate, use nufc.com - it's spot on, honestly. They update it every week. Or soccerbase.com, which is excellent. I'm only counting starting appearances, cos you rely on your starting players. As i recall, he's only scored against Barnsley when coming off the bench. Can't count that goal then

Ameobi scored a shit load for the under 21s too.

Spurs had very advanced talks about signing Arshavin in January but his wage demands were too much and it all fizzled out. There has been no mention on the Spurs boards of Arshavin joining Spurs in this window so I'm not really expecting him to wind up at WHL. Hmm, that goes against everything else which has been said. Arshavin rejected ANY move in january saying that he wanted to stay until summer. Unless you mean you were in talks in January about signing him in summer? This is what I said Last October .................. http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php?topic=48098.msg1160591#msg1160591 Arshavin's agent wanted more than we could afford and it fizzled out. Maybe no club would meet his wage demands so he declared his intention to stay until the summer? Maybe, I don't know. Why don't you know? You know every small detail of every other deal in the world.

Martins record for who? He's got 20 in 64 for us, which I personally think is pretty poor for a player who's there to score goals. Martins has 27 in 66, which is reasonably close to 1 in 2* - closer than any other striker that we've had in recent years (other than Shearer). At a guess i'd say that nine/ten of those games he'll have been playing on the wing, too. More of which will have been playing with Antoine Sibierski. *41% strike rate if we're going down the statistics route to judge players Where are you getting those stats? I can only see: 06-07 Newcastle United 11 Goals, 33 Games 6 Goals, 9 Games (UEFA Cup) 07-08 Newcastle United 9 Goals, 31 Games (-) So even including the European games, your figures are out. Have I missed something?

Spot On. It's refreshing that a player moves for his career ambition and the chance of European football and a better coach, rather than moving to the club that offered him the better salary. Even if it is annoying that it's Spurs he is moving too. The ONLY area where they score, is that they are in London, and not every player would see this as the be all and end all. having won silverware this season and being in the uefa cup next season must count for something, surely? Well, Cardiff have just appeared in the FA Cup Final, and pompey have won the FA Cup. Are you saying both of those clubs, especially the winners, are also bigger and better than us ? no i'm not, you're the one bringing those two clubs into the thread, not me. the thread is about spurs, who have just won silverware and are in the uefa cup next season, and that has to be a draw for a player, sorry like, it seems beyond obvious to me. Well, so have pompey. Correct or not ? I reckon the european place and the FA cup win could certainly attract some players, yeah. Well, you're just going to have to wait for this grand plan to come to fruition then aren't you. Lets hope those other 19 pesky premiership clubs don't get in the way, or pull further ahead while you're waiting eh You're not saying that pompey are now a bigger and better club than us are you ? No, otherwise I'd have said it. And to repeat, I agree with you about signing "players for the future" rather than players to improve us right now. I've said that many times. However, it looks like we're attempting to sign the "right now" players, so that can't be used as a negative on the new board. Portsmouth playing in Europe will help attract players. That's all I said. Don't you think it will?

I know. I'm just sick of him.
