Same argument didn't hold water a while ago when people talked about Heskey being an improvement on Ameobi. A player is either good enough for where we want to be or isn't. Young isn't a big enough improvement. Enough money has been wasted already, the club needs to buy players who are a significant improvement on what we already have. Young IS a significant improvement on Carr. I'd agree but the fact remains that while Young is average, Carr is absolutely dreadful. Neither is good enough to hold down a first team spot if we want to get to where we all want to go. In the short to medium term, we are looking at what, top 7? I reckon Young is good for that. For the kind of money talked about here, certainly. He'd be a stop gap. I don't want the club to sign stop gaps.

We need to do better than Young.

  4. Shearer signed because he thought he'd win trophies, if we were shit he wouldn't have signed imo. Keegan did. Twice.

Getting a bit mouthy for a young lad, but then this is the internet....

    I'm laughing at you, actually.

mackems.gif i hope you're laughing at the £2m thing, because he is without doubt better than Carr, by dint of not being a fucking shithouse. I'm laughing because even though he may be better than Carr this is either an indication of how much expectations have fallen since Souness or is an indication of a lack of football knowledge on the part of the person who started the thread. It's probably a combination of both, tbh. Young is a very, very average footballer from what I've seen.
  8. OK Einstein if everyone is fit how odes Alan Smith get consistent games? Keep in mind they are currently hunting for a top class striker. No one's denying that. He won't be first choice. Doesn't necassarily means he wants out at this moment in time. And your patronising tone is getting a bit old, Einstein. When did I say he wanted out? I said he ought to leave! Goodness grief ... Definitely not Einstein.....

  10. Long story short, they were trying to force their way into the ground forcing someone to make a decision that turned out to be a bad one.
  11. I think either yourself or someone else has posted this before as though it's the be all and end all. Well it's not the case, it's just a report and like every report it's there to be questioned unless someone is dumb enough to think every report into every event is totally correct and gospel. These are opinions offered by someone under pressure to provide a scapegoat. People should pack in posting extracts from this but they won't because it's used by Liverpool supporters like some kind of crutch to pass on responsibility. Words like "suggest," "projecting," "assessment," "rough checks," etc etc. Facts, my arse. It's a serious subject so try not to make me laugh. Anyway, a question for you. If fans had not turned up and attempted to force their way into the ground would the event have occured? Would the plod have opened the doors had they not been trying to force their way inside? Liverpool fans need to accept some responsibility for their actions but as usual they fail to do so.
  12. FFS, it's obvious what happened. It's always been obvious but some people are taken in by the bleating wankers. and a particularly thorough inquiry? You can point the finger of blame at anyone you like but the fact is if the drunken bastards hadn't been there without tickets pissed out of their minds trying to force their way into the ground the police wouldn't have had a decision to get wrong. I've no affiliation with the plods, hate them in fact, but the deaths that day were down to Liverpool fans and that's the end of it.

  14. Exactly. One of my mates is one of the most level headed people you'll ever meet, he's recently joined the poliss, but he's a smashing kid despite that. He's just been on the phone there "I FUCKIN HATE THEM c***s, THEY'LL NEVER LEARN." This is one of the most placid people you'll ever meet. I think the secrets out that they're the biggest bunch of c***s on these islands, something I've known for years. Celtic went to Seville, all 10m of them - no trouble. Chelsea (?!?!) went to Stockholm no storming of the gates no trouble Arsenal went to Copenhagen 94 (forget about 2000 that wasn't their fault). Paris 2006 - no trouble Man Utd went to Rotterdam and Barcelona - no trouble Boro went to Eindhoven - no trouble Liverpool went to Brussels and Athens - one the biggest riot in European Football history in which they tried to blame everybody, including Chelsea fans, Thatcher, the police and the stadium. Athens 2006- they rob their own fans, they storm the gates (scum with no memories), they steal tickets out of their own fans hands, they call themselves the best fans in the world. THEY ARE PURE SCUM, defend them all you like but that's all they are, they're scum, they're no hooligans - just the dregs of society, why can the above come away from European finals with their reputations intact and these bastards can't? Because they're scum. Rant over. Stevie, you missed out tens of thousands of Everton fans in Rotterdam, '85. Mass football matches with the locals and the coppers. Celtic fans travelling with Evertonians to the game to support the blues after getting robbed in the semi by Rapid. No bother at all. So please don't make out this is a purely scouse thing. It's a Liverpool FC thing. Aye, that's a fair comment.
  15. Is that supposed to be a comparison to this? f****** hell This guy is an idiot mate, I think it's possibly one of Sima/Vic? Don't think it's Vic, he's funny and this abcdefg is a bit of a berk. Can't be sima either, as it seems to know the alphabet. Or at least a part of it.....
  16. Just face the facts, man. Scousers are wankers. Full stop.
  17. There has to be some reason why they are as they are. Let's stick red stars on them and round them up then eh? Sounds ok to me. They're just a bunch of bastards who can't take responsibility for their actions. They were to blame for Hillsborough and they were to blame for the European ban that set football in this country back for years. By the way, who are you, like?
  18. There has to be some reason why they are as they are.
  19. They always blame everybody and will never accept any responsibility. As I've said numerous times, the people of Liverpool were to blame for Hillsborough and no, they haven't learned anything from it because they've spent the time since trying to blame everybody else.
  20. To be fair, tactically I'd say he's the best in the Premiership and one of the best in Europe and once again, this is a small blot on an otherwise excellent copybook from Rafa who will no doubt go on to win at least one more CL whether it be with Liverpool or another club. He got it wrong tonight but you can't win them all.
  21. Good post, Parky. Describes it exactly how it was. Benitez = idiot. He threw it away. Bringing on Kewell actually made me laugh out loud.
  22. Yet it was your primary argument response in your previous post. You'll have to explain, as I don't know what you're on about. I somehow doubt I was the first one talking about games played and goals scored, but if that's what you want to believe then go ahead.
  23. 25 games=6 goals for Kluivert Ah right, so you use 17 goals for Martins (ie, his UEFA Cup goals too), but ignore Kluivert's (not forgetting his FA Cup goals). That's fair. You must have expected an idiotic response. The record book states he played 25 games and scored 13 goals. Not bad. The 25 was in the league, with 6 goals. Got a couple in cups too, notably those big two against Spurs and Chelsea. His UEFA cup record was 5 in 6, which was excellent - however, when you consider that 4 of those 5 came across a team of peasants from an Israeli mountain village, it doesn't look quite as good. He wasn't given a fair crack of the whip due to Shearer's undroppable status but sometimes didn't do himself any favours. He started 15 games in the league, not 25. The rest of your post explains why I think stats are bollocks, so talk to your mate nufc06.

Not bad. 6 goals in the premiership though mackems.gif 11 goals in 32 PL games for Martins 6 goals in 15 PL games for Kluivert Do the calculation, since you like to work from statistics. Kluiverts all round game was better as well.
