  1. Aye, and football only started when the Premiership was born.
  2. 1. There is no pressing need to replace Butt, there are far more urgent weaknessess to be fixed. 2. If we did replace Nicky Butt then according to a fair few members of this forum the ideal player is already at the club. Apparently. Don't want Barton. Simple as that.
  3. Tbh I wouldn't want to see Barton at Newcastle, but as a replacement for Parker it's not a bad idea, he's a far superior footballer. As a combination it would be rubbish.
  4. When will you accept that Parker's inability to pass the ball and the fact he spends half the match on his arse means he isn't good enough for where we want to be?
  5. One hundred and eighty. mackems.gif
  6. mackems.gif Once again you support leaving out Butt, who is a strong candidate for our player of the season, in favour of your favourite player who just happens to be hopeless. Scott Parker has decided to have surgery on a injury that has had trouble with for months so is out of the Match today anyway. Still hopefully a attacking approach for our last game of the season with not much at risk, Butt breaking up the play with Dyer bombing on through the middle with the two out and out Wingers of Milner is his best position on the Right and N'Zogbia on the Left. Given Solano Onyewu Taylor Babayaro Milner Dyer Butt N'Zogbia Owen Martins Subs- Krull, Carr, Bramble, Luque, Ameobi and your team HTL you are hoping for? Krull Solano Bramble Taylor Babayaro Milner Dyer Butt N'Zogbia Owen Carroll Subs- Given, Carr, Gooch, Martins, Ameobi

  8. Reservation I have is what I've stated in other threads. He's so far only managed at a small club with low expectations. It will be different at Newcastle, he will need to develop and show different abilities to those he's shown at Bolton.
  9. That with N'zogbia/ Duff for Luque would do tbh. Just need a whole new back 4 then... Yes, agree about kicking Luque out, so that with Butt for Parker would do tbh.
  10. But would you swap him for Owen? What do you think of Owen having a £9 million get out clause? I would swap him for Owen IF Owen wants to leave and is going to leave, but I wouldn't try to do a deal like that, I'd try to bring Bellamy here without anyone leaving. As for the question about a £9m get out clause. I haven't seen Owen's contract so I've no idea whether this is true or not. In any event, it would depend on other (obvious) things, such as when this clause takes effect. Give me full details please. I haven't see his contract either but it has been suggested through the press by his agent that he can leave for less than £10 million because we failed to qualify for Europe, the talk of his get out clause last season couldn't be used becaue we qualified for Europe via the Intertoto. In that case I've no idea if this is true or not, so let's stick to facts from now on.

  12. Would take Bellamy as a replacement for Martins, that's for sure.
  13. We arent comparible to the top four clubs though so we cant expect a manger comparible to top 4 managers Exactly. Daft way of looking at it, tbh. We want to be in that top 4 so we need a manager good enough as those managers to give us that chance. Obvious, innit....
  14. Pots and kettles here, like. You've been known to make some rather large assumptions yourself, reading things into posts that never cross someone's mind. NM is right on this one. The 'tone' of the positive posts about Allardyce leads to a pretty fair conclusion that many people around here view him as someone who simply can't fail, a fantastic manager, best English manager, blah blah blah.
  15. I hope this turns out to be the normal scenario of you being wrong. Don't blame me, blame the bloke who has giving him the job Oh I won't blame you for appointing him obviously. However, after clamouring for Allardyce to be given the job I will think you're daft if Allardyce is fully backed, messes it up himself and you then slate the Board for making a poor appointment that you yourself would have made if it was your decision. To be honest, I wouldn't and you can hold me to that, not if they did absolutely everything they are required to do or what I require them to do anyway which is to keep out of the footy side, provide the funds, do as the manager says within reason (i.e not do away with the reserves on the request of the manager) and while BS goes about sorting the team out, they do the same with finances and such. Do that and he fails, they can't be blamed. Do that and there is actually a very good chance they will succeed and go someway to redeem themselves. I'd still like them out though even if that did happen, because long-term they will never be able to sustain anything as they've proven. Just my opinions though. BS? Bullshitter?
  16. Managing an international side is entirely different to managing a club side. The situations are chalk and cheese.

  18. Nah the Sven is interested, Agent was on SSN. .....and we have spoken to Sven 3/4 weeks ago. He would be excellent as well. I agree. Foreign anarl, which should shut a few people up until he fails and they all throw rotten eggs at Fred again.

  20. It's not arrogance mate, he's just an outright idiot.
  21. I would enjoy it, milk it for all its worth, having waited for decades, most of which was spent getting nowhere near such heights, up until 1992, then get magnificently, superbly, fantastically, mingingly, heavenly pissed, so much so that I would be unconcious in a gutter somewhere, and celebrate in a fashion that I've never done before and never will again. And I have a feeling that most of the 15000 supporters like me who supported the club when we had a shite board would do exactly the same. I just hope I live long enough. Anyway, at least I've seen us parading a trophy on an open top bus, nearly 40 years ago. Most of those 40 years was far more frustrating than now because good players worth building a team around left for more ambitious clubs like West Ham and Middlesboro, for example. We'd do ok, get to a point where crowds were up a bit and team wasn't bad, just 2 or 3 signings and we could challenge for the top 6 (note challenge for the top 6) but no, they'd sell our best player or two instead. It's all been said before but it is so far removed from how the club is run today that people simply don't believe it's true.
