Chelsea already have their general play sorted. In the end you need top class players throughout a team to be good enough to challenge for the title, I don't see anybody saying that isn't the case. What is being discussed here though is the priority for improving the team with a finite budget. If we maintain possession better and offer a greater attacking threat to the opposition we will concede less goals as a result. If/when we then improve individuals at the back and improve our organisation throughout the team AND at the back we will in turn concede even fewer goals.

Oh put a cork in it you mithering old goat. And your mates too. The last 3 or 4 pages are some of the most childish stuff I've read in ages. It makes me cringe. Get a f****** grip.
  3. i hope you are joking? he scored 111 goals in 5 seasons since then Well he only played 3 seasons after the Mpenza incident, but my point was that, during that period, the team went into a decline, from which we're only just starting to emerge. That's more important than how many goals a particular individual scores. Exactly. Some prefer a hero though.

Aye, we did need him and he was available at a good price. Did you think Zog should have played every game this season if he was fit? Did you expect a young player like Zog to play out of his skin in this his second full season, like he did at times last season?

But he didn't want them so it doesn't mean he failed in the transfer market, it just means he didn't sign who YOU wanted him to sign.

So Souness didn't fail when he signed Boumsong, Faye, Babayaro, Moore and Parker then? Those players aren't good enough for us so he did fail. However, Martins and Duff are good enough for us.

The reality is that he will know which areas of the team he wants to strengthen, he will target certain individuals for those areas and he will bring in whoever is available from that list that the club can afford, that the selling club is prepared to sell at an acceptable and realistic price and who wants to come here and play for this club. This may not be who you and some others want but it won't mean he's failed. Generally I think he's done very well so far, and I'll add he wouldn't have been my choice. To suggest he's done less than a decent job is plain daft right now given the circumstances.
  8. I believe it's best to use your best players in their best positions and not fit square pets in round holes. He can play there yes, so he'd be an option, but I'd sooner go with a proper right sided player to start with. He tries too many long balls for my liking, given that I prefer a short passing game.
  9. Why? Name me a more in-form English right winger at this present time. James Milner is a decent Premiership player. He is not international class. That's why.

he needs a good bite on the arse - and how do you put these smillies into posts first time ? I keep getting "quick reply" In "Look, Layout and Preferences" there is an option "Use quick reply on topic display": Select the option you want from the pulldown.

Little unfair to say he has completely failed but so far he is certainly in the "could try harder" category! Aye.So far he didnt fail completely but in the summer if we didnt sign at least a new LB i'll be pissed Except the manager will decide which positions to fill and who he wants to fill them. He may be happy with Babayaro and he may think Duff can play there as well. Bernard MAY return to full fitness, only Roeder and the club's staff will know those things. If we lose Emre plus any other players that right now we don't expect to leave the priorities may change. We still need at least one striker plus a good attacking central midfielder imo. Ameobi Oba Owen Sib Dyer IMO this is enough IMO it isn't. If fit what's wrong with Bernard? If it was 4 years ago nothing but right now im not so sure he can do the job.He didnt play at the top level for i dont how long... And why do u think we need another striker? IMO our priorities in the summer should be top defender(Curtis Davies),LB(Bridge?),CM(Giles Barnes),maybe another CM if Emre leaves Bernard left the club in 2005. We only have 2 real PL quality strikers, Owen and Martins. We have zero, thats 0=zero quality LB I don't agree.

Transfer market depends on the availablity of players Roeder wants at a price the club can afford to pay and who are prepared to sign. Does it not? Roeder is at fault when he isn't targetting certain players though, players who would improve our team moved during the transfer windows who I think we would have had a chance in getting (like Campbell). We've done this before so I'll bugger off 'cos it's a waste of time. Just because he doesn't target players you think we should buy doesn't mean he's failed in the transfer market.

  19. No. The season isn't over yet. There's still time for Bramble. He may score a hat-trick as we win the Uefa Cup final.

It will be interesting how close we get, which of course should be considered against the crippling injuries sustained this season.

Not from where he started compared to where Souness started. It took a top manager like Robson two full seasons to turn it around after Gullit.

He's done a good job. Roeder is probably the right man for the job at this point in time and he's doing ok under the circumstances. His failings appear to be a lack of ability to see the wood for the trees regarding certain individuals. There are players he looks like picking no matter what. The thing those who slag Roeder don't seem to consider is that a world renowned manager ( like appointing Dalglish or Robson in the 90's ) would have expected massive transfer funds to build his own team, funds that the club just doesn't have due to Souness. We need a period of consolidation and stability right now and a slow rebuilding of the team and squad without going beserk with the cash. He's doing a sound job imo.
  23. We'll win the lot, tbh. You heard it here first, get your money on now.

    Penalty Taking

    He carries on taking them.
  25. I think it's a bit ironic that a hockling wanker like Diouf could get to complain about anybody, tbh. He's one of the most despicable wankers in football.
