He thought it best to leave Michael Owen out not Michael Owen. showing up fit in training? that's because it was 2-3 weeks after the Premiership had finished and he had had time to get fit. Also he was fit for us in training as well it just wasn't as publicised, he just didn't train as a precaution no responsibility? he accepted that he wasn't playing at his best but he was hardly playing bad. he had nothing to take responsibility for and nothing to apologise for, the team weren't creating him chances. the change was tactical. we were playing the long ball and it doesn't suit him, we were under pressure and so needed to pack the midfield. ffs I don't know what some newcastle fans think Owen is but he is a decent bloke and he wouldn't use the club. he isn't some evil little man who takes money from us then goes home and sits in his layer laughing it up. The broken foot wasn't his fault, the knee injury wasn't his fault, him becoming fit for england but not newcastle isn't his fault, it's what happens when you come back from injury, you gradually build fitness. Newcastle On Casino Shortlist THE eight-strong shortlist for Britain's first Las Vegas-style super-casino has been announced - and Newcastle features on it. The UK Casino Advisory Panel said on Wednesday that it has finalised a provisional shortlist of 39 proposals from local authorities seeking a casino license following an extensive review. The provisional shortlist has eight competing proposals for the regional and 31 for the large and small casinos. The eight are from Blackpool, Brent, Cardiff, Glasgow, Greenwich, Manchester, Newcastle (NUFC) and Sheffield. Only one site will eventually get the go-ahead for a super-casino with unlimited jackpots. A further 16 licences for small and large casinos - with jackpot limits of £4,000 will also be granted. The large and small casino proposals have been submitted by Bath & NE Somerset, Bournemouth, Brighton, Canterbury, Chelmsford, Dartford, Dudley, Dumfries and Galloway, East Lindsey, Great Yarmouth, Hastings, Hull, Leeds, Leicester, Luton, Mansfield, Middlesbrough, Milton Keynes, Newham, N E Lincs, Peterborough, Restormel, Scarborough, Sefton, Solihull, Southampton, South Tyneside, Swansea, Thurrock, Torbay and Wolverhampton. In January, the Casino Advisory Panel sought casino license proposals from local authorities, which resulted in 68 formal proposals. However, one proposal was later withdrawn, leaving 67 to be considered. Chairman Stephen Crow said: "I know that our decisions will cause disappointment to some, not least to authorities who had looked to their casino proposal as a means of alleviating severe problems of deprivation or even improving social conditions and meeting the need for economic regeneration. "But the competition has been very strong, so it is inevitable that some proposals, good enough though they may be in themselves, have to yield more before more powerfully justified cases." The Casino Advisory Panel's final decision is expected to be handed to ministers in December.
