  1. Funny you should say that because it seems that its sentiment that's making you still rate Bellamy as high as you do. I'm not one of those who thinks someone that scores 18 - 20 goals is better than someone who scores 10 - 15 goals. They are different types of players and I would rather have Bellamy in my team. Then thank goodness you arent our manager. Aimaad.....I mean because they are different players playing different roles ? A player who scored 10-15 goals and supports another forward player and creates situations etc can be a much better player than a player who scores 18-20 goals and doesn't really contribute in a footballing sense ? Also consider that simply looking at a goalscoring stat doesn't take into accout how many of those goals are scored when you are for instance already 2-0 up, or at home rather than playing away, or penalties possibly I think Craig Bellamys worth to Newcastle couldn't be measured by goals alone, he transformed defence to attack, he prevented teams from pushing up against us and he without a doubt put 2-3 years on Alan Shearers career. And Martins doesnt contribute anything to the team as a whole? I think his flicked header put through Dyer for his goal against Arsenal. And then that run from his own half to set up Duff for his goal against West Ham? You cant assume that somebody who scores 20 goals a season doesnt set up goals for others. And that comment about goals being scored when we're 2-0 up and situations like that? What are you on about mate? You are clutching at straws in your blind defence of Bellamy. I don't agree. Maybe using a goalscoring stat doesn't tell the full story is clutching at straws ? Time will tell. Don't get me wrong, I hope he succeeds, of course I do. But I think it is quite sad that so many people have turned against Craig Bellamy because of the lies and incompetence of a fuckwit hopeless manager that smeared him and influenced their outlook in a bad way. Well I said a while ago that if Martins had came in and scored goals like Andy Cole, people would not be questioning Roeder and we would see a notable change in results and attitude among supporters, so this is right. Will he become as good as Cole was do you think ? And yes, as I said they are different players, Bellamy maybe will not be a goalscorer like Martins, but was Peter Beardsley as good a goalscorer as Andy Cole ? Which of those would you choose between ? I think if he came back a hell of a lot of people would change their mind, there are a lot of fickle people around. Souness was everything you say he is, but I dont for one minute think Bellamy was completely innocent. He did act like a complete arse at times. Among choosing between Cole and Beardsley, that would depend on the situation. I still dont get why you would choose Bellamy over Martins. If Bellamy had that little extra bit in creating spaces for other etc, Martins has advantages over him in a lot more areas. Like its been mentioned, he's physically stronger and more fit, better in the air and has the ability to create something out of nothing, not to mention he's two footed and has a wicked shot on him. He's got the ability to play in many roles, that Bellamy type role which he adopts while playing alongside Sibierski/Ameobi and he doesnt do too badly as a target man either(despite his small height). People are saying they both are different type of players. Well, Martins is being forced to play as the main man upfront, all the pressure's on him, he's expected to score goals and influence the game. Bellamy always played under Big Al's shadaw, anything from Bellars was a bonus, the main load fell on Shearer. So he had a lot of freeedom and a lot less pressure. Who knows, maybe Martins prefers playing in a role like that and would flourish in it. But he's not, and he's still doing well. My point is he's versatile, which Bellamy just isnt. Like Ive said before, there's no denying Bellamy was a useful player for us. But Martins can be just that as well, and so much more.

Martins' two goals got us the win against Talinn, his two goals got us the win at Blackburn, his two goals got us the win against Watford, his penalty agaisnt Reading got us back into the game. Henry gets a lot of his goals against weaker teams, I think his last few hattricks have come agaisnt Fulham, Wigan and Watford. So you would have Bellamy in your team rather than him  There's no doubting Bellamy's committment, he always gave it his all. But he just hasnt got the class to be a top notch striker. He's the sort of player who's useful from time to time but thats about it. Here in Martins we've got a potentially world class striker. And Martins is supposed to be a very decent lad as well, dont see him causing the sort of unrest and trouble Bellamy did from time to time. There's no way in hell I'd have him back, and Im glad to see most people think the same.
  3. With their style of play, we'll have to be lucky to come away without furthur injury problems. So a point and an injury free game would do nicely for me.

Then thank goodness you arent our manager. No it's not. Saying he is LIKE Bellamy would be a joke, but any different players can be COMPARED. My original point was that they both cause problems for defenders with their pace and movement, and make teams defend deeper against us. But they are very different players. Thats what I meant, lets not get all technical on the English.
  5. For his first season in the league, he's been abolutely fantastic. Its often been mentioned people like Henry and Drogba were fairly inconspicuous in their first seasons here. On top of that, Martins has come and played for a team in relegation trouble and under huge pressure. That makes things all the more difficult. And he's 22 for heavens sake. He's maturing with every minute he plays, and looks better each next game. With a seaon's experience under his belt and the rest of the players coming up to the mark as well, he could cause a lot more damage. Comparing Bellamy to Martins is a joke. Martins has got more of everything Bellamy has, plus two very important things he doesnt. One is physical presence, Martins is no pushover. Second is the ability to create something out of nothing, which Bellamy hardly ever displays.
  6. Kranjcar, Diawara and Ooijer? They've all been terrible! Ooijer is worse than Bramble at his worst to be honest. Dont care if he's an international, he's bene exceedingly poor. If people like that got on the list Im surprised Tevez didnt.
  7. Jenas and Keane are rated very doubtful, havent heard anything about Lennon.
  8. howay darrent bent!! bent and oba would be a dynamic duo up front since he has height and the ability to lay the ball into spaces. licking my chops thinking about this pair... can't see it coming to the front though, surely out ranges the budget and is not the #1 priority for newcastle during the window. i doubt we would be taking a look at this boya kid if bent was in the plans He'll jump on the chance to leave Charlton(I think) We should be looking at people like Bent, and not Viduka and Stelios. They'll be a complete waste of money. Sibierksi is better than them. All about the money. Yup, we shouldnt be wasting it. Hold onto it till the summer rather than going for crap like Viduka.

  10. Great news, there's this guy called Darren Bent now.....
  11. Owen for me only. N'Zogbia would be on the bench, I prefer Milner and Dyer on the wings. Would be good to have Moore back as backup but only as backup. Ameobi as back-up as well, Sibierski looks far more impressive. Bramble and Carr can stay injured until their contracts expire.
  12. I was at both games and they were almost identical we're one of the few teams to actually cause them problems but at the end of the day we can't defend against a top class striker at the top of his form and we lack the pentration to threaten for long periods sad but fair Over the last couple of seasons, along with a decent defender one other crucial thing we've lacked is somebody who can make something happen out of nothing. But having watched Martins over the last few games I think we might have finally solved that problem. He nearly scored from completely out of the blue with that fantastic shot, and he's lifted us with some great goals recently. Hopefully this isnt just a flash in the pan. And Taylor is looking more and more impressive every game, a couple of shrewd signings in the summer and we may have reasons to be optimistic about the second half of the season. But God how many times have we said that before.....
  13. Butt made a stupid tackle that led to the goal yesterday, Robben was going nowhere Taylor had the ball covered. But there's no denying he's been one of our best players over the last few games.
  14. Sad. Booing our own player(Babayaro), and now racist chanting in the stadium? I know its only a small minority(drunks probably) but its things like these that get out and will harm our reputation.
  15. was it in the champions league? wanted to know
  16. Roeder is an incompetent, stupid, senile and gutless manager. The person who appointed him is all of those things 10 times magnified. We're a mess, something needs to be done.
  17. Bramble's not the worst player we have, its Steven Carr. He was at fault for both their goals along with Shambles. He's been diabolical for a long time now. Absolutely pathetic players both of them....to the point of being disgraceful to the club.
  18. Nearly all of us have got some freetime on our hands, if he's using his for our entertainment then we should only thank him. Very good read bluebiggrin.gif
  19. Aimaad 22 the twenty two is very important bluebiggrin.gif
  20. England should be building for the Euro 2008, and WC 2010. Scholes, if he comes back, is not going to be any use in those so I dont see the point in him coming back. The current crop of enlgish midfielders is good enough in my opinion, but they have not been given the right guidance. Under Sven, it always seemed to me that Gerrard and Lampard were never really sure of thier roles, or that they were very uncomfortable with them. And a few years back it seemed to many people that Gerrard and Lampard would perhaps never play well together in midfield, but sven seemed to give no thought to it. Both the players continued to play those same roles in those same positions again and again, with the result that England often looked clogged in midfield which in turn had a very negative effect on their overall performance. He should have tried to play them in different roles. Or perhaps brought in some other player that would have given Lampard/Gerrard the chance to play in their proper preferred roles. Such an arrangement would have possible brought more out of England. Mclaren, too, isnt the cleverest of managers to me and im not sure if he'll be able to find a solution. I think the diamond formation will suit england much more:- -----------Parker/Hargreaves------------------- ----Beckham/Lennon--- -----Cole---- Lampard/Gerrard I think England must have someone like parker or hargreaves in there at all times, to give gerrard or lampard the freedom they thrive on. The kind of which is given to them by the likes of makelele and alonso in their respective clubs. On paper lampard-Gerrard might be very attractive, but the fact is they dont gel together at all. Sacrifice one of them to bring the best out of the other, and in turn put england in a better position. Lampard should be kicked out of the squad on his world cup performances anyway, he was embarrasing.
