  1. No, players who were s**** for us but would be TOO good for us now and wouldn't talk to the club. It's in the first post. Just read it. Even mandiarse managed it. according to popular opinion at the time....duff,parker,emre.

that was a bad injury, another year (which in your 30's is a lot), and to round it off as i've siad before...steven taylor was our best right back last season.
  3. you should if the player is worth it and you can afford it.
  4. You might have a point if we were talking about a world class player, but we're talking about a 26 year old League 1 striker who would almost certainly be used as backup at Everton. Edit: To clarify, I'm speaking completely hypothetically here, as I'm not at all convinced about this Everton link and I think the deal probably broke down simply because we (rightly IMO) didn't offer Leeds enough cash for him. I'm just arguing about the principal of "we can't compete with Everton for players" and commenting on a worrying trend I see of the club's dealings with players into and out of the club. we can compete but you can easily understand if, under the current respective situations, he went to everton. Certainly, and I wouldn't (and am not) complaining about a one-off miss. I'm talking about a worrying trend, the apparent lack of effort by the club, and the acceptance by some that there's no hope of us signing someone like Beckford if Everton want him for the reserves. The only players we have signed in recent years are those no-one else was interested in (except maybe for Guthrie). possiblt because we realised we couldn't keep on doing what we done to get them here before...ie make their eyes bulge with huge pots of cash more than our opposition.
  5. i doubt "he'll" spend anything, money might come out of the clubs coffers to make small purchases though.
  6. whats wrong with the current left back ?
  7. the back 4 are premiership standard players. means nowt if they get no support from in front of them though.
  8. i'd like to see what simpson would be like with a better player on the right with him as he is often left exposed defensivly and with few options when in possession.

  11. wish i'd been the author... http://roversreturn.net/2010/01/15/bohemian-rhapsody/ To the tune of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen: Is this Allardyce? Or is this just fantasy? Caught in a poor team, Try to hoof it to victory, Open your eyes, Just stop telling lies and see, We’re just a poor team, we have no quality, Because its easy come, easy go, Just like that Elrio, Any way the Blues scores, doesn’t really matter to me, To me. Grella, just skinned a man, Put the ball between his legs, But he slipped and now he’s dead. Givet’s game has just begun, But Nelsen’s gone and thrown it all away. Roberts!!! Oooohh!!! Didn’t mean to make us lose, He couldn’t score if we played til tomorrow, Carry on, carry on, cos we are Blackburn Rovers. Big Sam, your time has come, Sends shivers down my spine, When you say that we played fine . Goodbye, Morten Pedersen, you’ve got to go, Gotta leave you far behind with your long throws. Nikola!!! Oooohh!!! (anywhere the ball goes) I’m not gonna lie, I sometimes wish you’d never been bought at all. I see a little overweight South African, Benni Mac, Benni Mac, will you do a back heel. Hoilett quick as lightning, Jacobsen is frightening me. Franco Di Santo, Franco Di Santo Franco Di Santo, Franco Di Santo Where’s the goal I don’t know We’re just a poor team, nobody likes us, He’s just a right-back too old for madrid, Spare me this game from this monstrosity. Dunny, the window, please don’t let him go, Nzonzi, no, we will not let him go – let him go Nzonzi, we will not let him go – let him go Nzonzi, we will not let him go – let him go We will not let him go – let him go We will not let him go – let him go No, no, no, no, no, no, no. David Dunn, David Dunn, David Dunn please don’t go Keith Andrews will you play it on the floor for me, for me, for me. So you think that El Hadji won’t spit in your eye, Do you like it when Robinson kicks the ball high. Oooohh Williams!!! Can’t do this to us Williams!!! Just get Sam out, just get sam right out of here. Passing really matters, Everyone can see, Passin really matters, Passing really matters, To me Anywhere the ball goes…
  12. lets try a new tactic......... yes sam, it was the refs fault, they deliberatly pick on your teams. maybe if you fucked off your clubs would get an even break.
  13. Yes, you have a point - some weeks ago I said Football was heading for financial problems and this is now starting to emerge... The only problem with Ashley is that he didn't PLAN to do things this way - if it works out to Newcastle's advantage it will be because he got lucky - as he has in the past, SOMETIMES. I wouldn't be surprised to see a Salary Cap emerge - the EU bend lots of rules when it suits - just watch what happens with Greece's financial problems....... some, myself included , think he did try to do it this way but gambled on not getting relegated.
  14. yeah but if we think that way how can we blame NUFC ? (which surely is the point of most posts) We can't blame NUFC, that's what I was saying. i know, i was being sarcy about those who'll use situations where there is no blame and still find a way. as if there wasn't enough legit stuff. I'm not saying I'm gutted we appear to have missed out on Beckford, or that we should have just given in to whatever price Leeds wanted, but saying there's no competition if Everton are interested and then saying we did everything possible to sign him is contradictory. There are plenty of reasons you could use to persuade the player that we would be a better career move, and players don't always just join the club which is currently sitting higher in the league or offer the best wages. Playing wise with us he would have a chance to settle himself in a winning team in the Championship and thus have a better chance of keeping his place and doing well in the Prem should we be promoted, whereas with Everton if he got much playing time at all he'd be thrown in at the deep end while still trying to fit into the team. Financially, we could easily afford to match whatever wages they might offer a backup striker, and of course with us there's a much bigger potential. There was a time at this club when both manager and chairman would try and convince players to join us ahead of other teams, and it wasn't always just down to £££. These days I honestly wonder if the manager even gets to speak to the player and the MD & owner jet off on their jollies during negotiations. I don't expect us to sign every transfer target whatever the cost or competition, but is it any wonder we now repeatedly get mediocre players turning us down when anyone else shows an interest, we let our best players leave without a fight, and only seem to be able to sign the players noone else want. the point is he isn't good enough for us to do everything to get him. if he'd turned us down for WBA or leicester then i'd be concerned but there is little choice right now between us and everton. if he is confident in his ability then he'd go to everton. seems players can't win as i remember one of the bents, can't rmemeber if it was darren or marcus getting slagged off for not shpowing ambition when turning us down as he thought we were too big for him at that time. also remember in the past we've often got players by simply offering nmore wages than the opposition. something we are not now in a position to do and quite possibly weren't then either. as regards them going off on their jollies i'm sure most peolple would rather they kept away and left the negotiations to cushing , whoever the finance director is and hughton. they are a phone call away if they need asked or informed of anything. the simpson deal seems to have been completed with them away so i guess they have been in contact.

  16. "If he keeps his great progression he will surely become a Spain regular" defensivly he's good enough now. still has a bit of a problem giving away possession too easy when passing.
  17. the bosman ruling changed everything in regards to wages.
  18. Er, the follow-up piece confirmed Llambias WAS in Vegas and Ashley was also on holiday. So how was it "all b*****cks"? very rarely do the press print outright lies, it's the inference that does the damage. they were in vegas, a phone call away, so why is it worth a back page, full page spread ?.
  19. similar dodgy line up away at sunderland where we fluked a draw. unfortunatly it seems ronaldo is only looking at results and not performnces which were poor throughout the season.
  20. i can only assume you didn't go to the matches.
  21. what brings you to an NUFC forum then ?
  22. yeah b ut if we think that way how can we blame NUFC ? (which surely is the point of most posts)
  23. totally depends on the player. all the players mentioned have been naturally very good players. we seen keith gillespie on a couple of occasions on the left and because he was more of a one trick pony it didn't work.
  24. i think he'd have taken us down due to our performances getting worse and worse as the season went on from what wasn't a good level of performance to start. the everton game you mentioned being the best we played under him then as his style kicked in we had the likes of derby, pompey, liverpool, wigan. an even worse level of performance than last season.
