The season is 6 weeks away, what happens in 5 days makes no difference to a lot of players. Some players have been playing internationals up until the last few days and will not be back in training. The importanace of a full pre-season is often ignore by a lot of people in the game. If you have the bulk of you squad there from day one, you have the ability to ensure that you can control their conditioning, no matter how fit they are to fit in with the style you want to play a good coach will know how to best prepare his players for the new season. The early days in pre-season are also the times when you start building that team spirit, for new signings not to be around during this period is a huge missed opportunity. With international commitments it's becoming harder and harder to get everyone starting back on the same day. So this ideal is perhaps a little difficult to aspire to but if I was the boss I would want my squad together in full ASAP. but then again i'd rather buy the right players on the lastr day of the window rather than the wrong ones for the sake of having a full pre-season with them.

TBH I think the more mature dicussion has been coming from those on the 'impatient' side of things. It's the others that have been posting crap like this in response. They even resort to administrators of this very forum starting gloating "i told you so" threads, after 1 signing that no one know much about ! There have been a few very good posts from people such as TT and and mrmajorism (sp?) about the need to break the cycle of panic buying by being proactive in the transfer market and making early moves, if you chose to interperate that as OMG panic panic panic, then so be it. Don't take anything ShiteaM says literally, we all know he's either a WUM or completely insane. As always, I think the more "mature" or "reasoned" discussion has come from those on the fence, who don't give the same type of answer to every single story/piece of news of a similar nature. There's been crap from both sides, from what I've seen... as well as "very good posts" at times, I should hasten to add. dunno like...i've been right all along. Aye, that's a given though mate! nooo. you were supposed to ask what my line was then i'd reply that i'd forgot. I'll try harder next time. The question is whether he has the capability to change. I don't think he does and I don't think he really wants to. IMO we don't need to be associated with the likes of him and we should as painlessly as possible get rid. On what are you basing that assumption? From what you have read in the press, there is a whole thread devoted to what people think of them or have you spoken to him or his therapists councillors or whoever it is treating him for his anger management. Barton's involvement with Sporting Chance surely shows a willingness to change? If he flat out didn't want to even try, he wouldn't be affiliated with them. didn't he have to go as a condition of his bail ?

Loving the fact that we actually know now that the silence does not mean we're not doing anything behind the scenes. It also makes all the silly news story linking players to and from the club (like Custis recycling the Martins to Arsenal story) even less reliable because they obviously have f*** all clue what's going on (Enrique and now this). and the thing to remember is these are just the ones that have came off...who knows what else has been going on ?
