  1. N'Zogbia shouldn't be playing anywhere other than left wing and Duff shouldn't be anywhere other than the scrapheap. You're right...but we don't really have many other options. Edgar just isn't good enough. Duff's worse at what he does. N'Zogbia is our only real threat and should be one of the first names on the teamsheet in that position. with gutierrez being the first name in that position.
  2. haven't seen any of the game so just going off the radio and what others have said....... if he did have a good game i hope it's going to be a regular thing as so far he's shown no reason to be given a shot.

    Referees

Didnt you say you havent seen the match yet? Once again, I'm just saying the stick they get from some places is (in my opinion) a little over the top. And I'm not applying that to just this match. Youll understand when you see it I reckon. Its kneejerktastic, but its been an issue in football for a while that were bringing up now because weve been well and truly stung. I've seen plenty of decisions not go our way. I simply don't think that - in general - the refs are a) that bad or b) that deserving of stick, as the OP is making out. that's bollock's referee's are very very well paid now, they can get over £150k a year after bonuses and expenses so if they have a stinker they should be fined or suspended give me £150k a year cos i could do i damn sight better than all of these suposed referee's who don't watch football all the time and don't have a clue how it is played who referees when they are all suspended ?
  4. hasn't martins played down there the last couple of seasons ? i know he has at least once and we never even put up a fight.
  5. we scored on boxing day....surely a step in the right direction.

it's not the pace,it's that now there are cameras at every game. not so long ago if a ref made a s*** decision it was confined to those that were at THAT match, now everyone sees it,and the chance to watch it from many differeing angles in slo-mo.
  7. Goals were flowing past because Coloccini wasn't defending properly? The point is, Coloccini, even in his worse games, has been the best central defender this club has had since Albert & Howey. If not better. Should not forget Woodgate, even though he wasnt here for too long and also got him self injured, but he for sure was one great defender! I have not forgotten Woodgate at all. But he was here one and a half seasons, and barely played for us (28 games or so?). Coloccini is well on his way to going past that in his first season alone, and he does not look injury prone to me, having played every game for Depor last season. Fingers crossed, knock on wood and all that, long may it continue. I agree btw on fitness terms, but on pure ability Woodgate despite hardly playing for us is more than likely the best centre half we've ever had. woodgate was the best centre half i've seen play for us in my time. agree, after cannavaro he was the best i've seen in the flesh full stop who else have you seen? do you want a list ? i've missed fewer than a dozen home games all comps, since the days of jim smith and about 75% of all home games since 1974 so i've seen quite a few in the flesh.
  8. We still not need an injury faker. And also I would love to see a younger strinker come into here. Like Botafemi Gomez, probably! botafemi gomis or mario gomez or both
  9. half an hour a go...3-0 up. given and andy carroll two.

    Owen's replacement

Correct, both top scored with 11 league goals. Oba has the better for the season mark with 17. Ah, the classic Owen vs Martins argument. The fact of the matter is, when they're both in the team they create goals for each other, be it through direct assists or not. I mean... just who the f*** do you mark? See Martins' goal vs Portsmouth. Defense in a muddle, NUFC are in the box, who the hell do you go for? If you don't focus on both of them, one of them will have a shot at goal. Add one Mark Viduka to the equation and as a defense, you're royally bumraped. I know it's been harped on about, but if we can find a formula where we can accommodate the three to good effect then we'll win more games than we lose. (See Keegan. K) As far as i'm concerned, Owen - and Martins equally - is irreplaceable. it's how to get the best out of the team. the front 3,owen-viduka-martins may work but will it get the best out of others eg jonas, who is already playing out of his best position (imo)

  17. I would hope the alternative is put Jonas back on the left and get a natural right sided player to complement him. He's good on the right but the left side is his more natural position. I wouldn't mind that scenario at all, provided quality was brought in obviously.

    Owen's replacement

i wonder what kind of mind that have there... very pessimists and sound like owen bitch. martin can't replace owen goals? where have you sleeping all this time along? it is a FACT martin goal much more than owen isn't it...? and it's about time also martin being NUFC 1 st main striker. if owen doesn't assured to be stay.. why holding him? as for my concern NUFC is more important than owen sake... tough job to obtain a player who get goals regularly? so why regularly premiership has always new rising striker in each season? why new rising striker never been on our team.... ahhh i guess it because this all along we have been to much "nice" to owen... which our general play was to support him let face the fact our owen wasn't the younger owen... i can bet my arse now if owen can be 1st premiership goal scorers. club already offer him contract and he delay it... for him doing that is good business. but for NUFC as whole club is bad business... martins scores nowhere near the same ratio of goals why hold on to owen ?....right now he could be the difference between going down/stopping up why new rising striker never been in our team ? why no creative midfielder/full back etc...because the players the club have brought through have been not good enough...how many have gone elsewhere and proved us wrong ? bet yor arse on owen ? similarly on martins. as for the contract...totally understandable. merlins post. last sentence....that means you wouldn't want mario gomez or any of the french team ?
  19. I will be getting some of that action. Manchester United can do better than Owen. Unless they are tight on cash, I don't see why they would settle on 29 year old with poor injury record. Especially after the Luois Saha experiment. Because Owen is a class player who would do well in a team that actually plays the ball on the ground. His all round game, not just goal scoring, is well suited to a team like manure and he wouldn't be expected to play every game in that squad. IMO, he'd be an excellent addition to that squad. Nowhere near as good as they've already got. Ronaldo, Tevez and Rooney are streets ahead of Owen in terms of pace, technique and vision. They bring everything that Owen has not got. He should stay as he is a prolific goalscorer, nothing more or less. As for Man City, they are in the relegation places, if they spend on a striker, they will be looking for someone strong and athletic at exorbitant prices. Owen doesnt fit their bill in the slightest. ronaldo isn't really a striker and, personally i think owen would get more goals in that team than tevez who is only on loan and not looking like he's going to stay. Man U can attract better players and Man City can afford better players. are there many better playeres than someone who scores a goal every two games, retains possession and carries no transfer fee. think man utd and laarson but owen is some years younger. there arent many "better" players IF he can get the games in.

    The Story So Far

Really? I'd say Guthrie has been the pick of our central midfielders, even though that isn't saying a lot. when we were really bad he disappeared. as the centre mid supposedly with the legs he drifts away and makes others make the forwrad moves, doesn't win the ball, doesn't have the ball much doesn't look for it much....seems to hide an awful lot. i'm hoping the last couple of games have been a turning point for him.
  22. "i have given them my all" if thats your all kidda, you'll never make it at a top club.
  23. can't wait to hear UV's take on this alhough i doubt we will he'll probably say something about every signing being a risk and no matter who it is if they get unlucky injuries is more bad luck than judgement. it is the truth after aswell.

    The Story So Far

Team: NUFC Where did you expect your team to currently be: mid-table Best player so far this season: jonas just edging out bassong Worst player so far this season: cacapa. guthrie from those who've played most. Best game so far: pompey Worst game so far: wigan. dominated and out played at home till a non-sending off and then to lose the 3 points in the last few minutes. Who would you like to sign in January: lots of obvious names....the person who brought jonas and bassong probably. Who would you like to sell in January: smith (doubt we'd get a fee for cacapa) Thoughts on your manager so far this season: done ok, seems to have steadied things of late. still seen nothing to make me want him beyond may. General thoughts on your team so far: lack of confidence is a bigger worry than lack of talent. Where do you think you’ll finish from this point to the end of the season:10th
