  1. not even through the most rose tinted of specs
  2. after a while of no reaction the press will stop if they see it is having no effect (that should go for the fans aswell)
  3. also means if we don't deny in future the line will be "there must be something in it if they aren't denying it" should've said nowt
  4. Switch their nationalities and what happens to the price tags? why does this happen for english players...not like the nationality quota thing is in again.
  5. was going to post an osmonds pun.......but just can't be arsed
  6. if we had that much to spare then fair enough but i wouldn't pay that much on a player who, because of his age you'll get little back in 3 years . i think that is what is keeping most away. if he was 23 he may well have went for that price.
  7. Wasnt that tradition only started in the Robson years? Cant recall Keegan doing it in his first stint here. Could be wrong though. pretty sure joe harvey used to take the team there for early training.
  8. Because Intermedia never said that we approached them. Does the "approached by a third party" make it 100% false then? The third party could be Freddy Shepherd trying to buy the club back as far as we know. Just playing devil's advocate here but do you honestly not think an investment company would check out who they were dealing with before issuing a statement? All they have said is that someone tried to make them an offer with relation to NUFC. They haven't said what the offer was about, or who made it. To be honest, the wording of the comment by Intermedia kind of suggest it wasn't a club contact. This happens all of the time, intermediates looking to cash in on any deal i.e. one group thinks there may be a chance Ashley might sell, so contacts another with a hope of jointly forming an investment vehicle to make a bid, or to broker a potential bid and take a cut - none of these initial steps require any co-operation by Newcastle. Recent accounts are public documents, being privately owned doesn't change that, so saying that Intermedia have seen the accounts means nothing - I could print off the lastest accounts today from Companies House, contact a rich mate and say "take a look at this, if you're interested perhaps I can help you broker a deal to make a bid". Not that I have such a mate. the story was that the intermediary was an american boxing promoter.
  9. then he'd be cup tied if he moved to a team with a chance of winning it.
  10. all just paper talk at the minute, all transfer fees and wages are purely speculation and days after slagging off the press some are falling for it again. (hang your heads in shame)
  11. cue pictures in the chronicle of the players running on tynemouth longsands.
  12. Good riddance, we don't need flakey glory hunters like yourself. So why do you think all these "glory hunters" that "glory hunted" are now deserting the club Surely the measure of how a company performs is reflected in its audience/income/ticket sales etc Genuine question ? not nececelary......plenty clubs have been supported poorly after good seasons......blackburn,bolton and boro for example I don't really consider we should be competing at the financial level of those 3 clubs, its a long time since we did this. where did i say we were competing with those ? just pointing out that your premise of "how a company performs" etc is flawed I don't think it is. Witness half the city wanting to support the club and buy tickets during Keegans first period. This is what Newcastle should be aiming for, all the time. Keegans here again, so go for it. It's the same manager. the same manager ? the same name maybe but not the same man.

  15. yip.....read somewhere he was here for 3 years....was he ? seemed a lot less Very gracious from Bassedas. I can't remember much about his time here....didn't he break a leg on the US tour or something?
  16. i really want it to be true just for the press angle...ie they really don't have a clue and make up stuff to fill paper space
  17. i agree with stozo about the championship but i don't think clubs should be able to loan to teams in the same division.
  18. You think around a £10m net spend this year will be a successful transfer window, or are you judging it on other things? I don't care how much we spend if we get the players in that Keegan wants. He obviously wanted Gutierrez and he's potentially cost us naff all. It obviously follows that the best players cost the most, I clearly accept that. I'll just not get caught up in comparing the spend. How are you going to judge it is what I'm getting at. Obviously Keegan is not going to come out and say "The players we bought this Summer are pretty average. Everyone I really wanted turned us down and we had to go for Dennis' 4th or 5th choices." I will agree that it's harder to quantify these days, and more money which would normally go into transfer fees will now go into wages instead (this is why I'm concerned about the talk of cutting the wage bill - although I'm not judging yet as at the moment it is just talk). However I would still expect us to be spending as much if not more than our supposed current rivals (other UEFA place challenging teams), all of whom, barring Spurs, have a much lower turnover than we do. and they were wrong to be delighted. Personally I was reasonably satisfied considering the circumstances. I'm expecting (although hoping for might be more apt) much more this Summer. they may have a lower turnover but what about their overheads ?
  19. i'm picturing a scooby doo type scenario where ashleys mask is puled off to reveal osama himself. come to think of it,how many pics of ashley exist from before bin laden went to ground ?
  20. it should also be taken into account that many in the press don't like ashley (from before he even got involved with NUFC)
  21. Do you think that many people fall for this s***? Of those fans that actually contribute financially i.e: those buying season tickets and replica kit every season year in, year out how many (as a percentage) do you actually think believe this s**** to the point where it impacts their spending habits etc? I was thinking this whilst reading the Mail on Sunday article this morning. My first reaction was 'complete load of bollocks - who is driving this s***?' but I did wonder how many supporters would actually believe it and also what difference would it make? Not having a go btw, just interested in how many people you think this will impact and in what way. go into any pub on match day and you'll find more believe that sort of thing than is healthy but i can't see why it should affect their spending habits.
  22. maybe they do it cos they get the biggest bites off NUFC fans as for all we slag them off as liars etc deep down many believe and fall for every word.

    Oba And Out

Gomez woudl not leave his club for us and how many seasons of rattling them in has Guiza had and how old is he? i'd be happier with gomez tham gomis.
  24. You think around a £10m net spend this year will be a successful transfer window, or are you judging it on other things? all depends on the players brought in. in these days of bosman and webster spending isn't what it used to be.
