  1. Without these punishments existing, people will continue to perform the same crimes. This is relevant in football and in life. I think the kid knows he has done wrong and so does everyone else except Whelan and it wouldn't surprise me if martinez doesn't pick him for a couple of games anyway but it still won't help us. "You think the kid knows he has done wrong" This is based on what? The reassuring pat that he gave Haidara, having been told to by his team mate? Or the complete silence after the event? No apology from the player or the club, in fact they have done the complete opposite. Absolutely gutted they weren't all given a f***ing harsh punishment even though it wouldn't have directly affected our results. The result is all that matters and banning him won't change the result. so you don't agree with any bannings ? Not after the event. what do you propose as a sanction then ?

  3. Ignoring the examples given, you are saying you don't want the player who has assaulted our player punished? You aren't bothered he has gotten away with it? I am bothered he didn't get sent off, but banning him after the event doesn't help us one iota. it may not help us but there has to be a punishment for it. I wasn't aware when players are sent off then banned that the ban had to be to the benefit of the team transgressed against.
  4. and? most seem to see it as we do.
  5. just had a quick look about to make sure I wasn't looking at this through black and white geps. http://www.owlstalk.co.uk/forums/index.php/topic/191748-wigan-newcastle/ http://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/index.php?topic=304206.0 http://www.redcafe.net/f7/callum-mcmanaman-367960/
  6. tbf the vast majority of other clubs fans are doing likewise....not the mackems not surprisigly.
  7. or more so, if it had been on gerrard or lampard.
  8. quite pleased he's been charged, gives him a chance to tell them what a bunch of incompetent fuckwits they are.
  9. I haven't been this distraught since learning that victoria wood and the great soprendo had split up.
  10. i've just done it and had us 10th with 43pts (wins v fulham and mackems, draws at QPR, WBA and west ham, home to arsenal), reading bottom, then sunderland (no wins, only 2 draws to the end of the season) and wigan (on goal difference from QPR)
  11. to save me having to go through all 46 pages, whats "the dilsh" about ?
  12. could be in honour of lionel blair.
  13. i'd have no problem with our players getting sued if they done something like that (especially in guthries case as it wasn't even a tackle, that was ABH). however it's going to be difficuilt to get a court to decide on intent etc. It really isn't. You don't actually have to prove intent per se for any criminal offence/negligence action against the person. but if you couldn't prove intent then it opens up prosecutions for injuries where there was no intent, do we want to go down that route ? Yes. If serious injury can be reasonably foreseen by the offending player the tackle shouldn't be made. and thats what would be very difficuilt to prove in court imo.

  15. it doesn't matter if it's 50/50 or not if you don't even attempt to play the ball.

  17. rather he'd have left that till the weekend. i can see him playing both games for france now.
  18. why ? I played football for nearly 30yrs and never once felt the need to tackle like that.
