  1. I'm not even wild on him but he's had a hand in 3 crucial goals.
  2. Probably sounded a bit overly pessimistic there, I just mean I think it's a bit of a coin toss game and I always expect things to go wrong when it really matters where England are concerned.
  3. Don't get me wrong, unlike the last round, I personally don't have a single shred of confidence that we'll win tonight.
  4. Who's doing that though? There was an obvious joke headline on the back of the Mirror, and Rio Ferdinand was very confident but he's allowed to be, it's his opinion that he's paid to offer. I was extremely confident we would beat Ukraine, to the point where I wasn't the least bit nervous about the game. That wasn't some sort of English arrogance, it was just my view as a football fan on what looked a total mismatch in terms of the two teams involved. Apart from that, I don't see anything beyond the knowledge that we have a good team and that if we play well on the night, we'll give ourselves a good chance of going through. What's wrong with that? My biggest bugbear when England play these days is the accusations, from others and from ourselves, is of some sort of arrogance, and I have simply never seen it. Usually it revolves around the literal interpretation of three words of a song that's actually about how we never win anything but that we hope we do one day. Conversation online in the last two tournaments has been absolutely identical (often from English people): Second round: God the English are so arrogant, noticing who they might have to play in the draw, like they're ever going to get past Germany/Colombia! Quarter Final: God, the English are so arrogant and they're not even any good, they think they just have to turn up against Sweden/Ukraine! Semi Final: God, the English are so arrogant, they've not even played anyone good yet, obviously they were going to beat Sweden/Ukraine! Just let people look forward to an international tournament semi final without trying to pour cold water on it (sorry, not a dig at you, just in general, I had this rant three years ago as well I think).
  5. I doubt the Danish press have mentioned it at all this morning.
  6. My wife gets them and she puts a quid on once in a blue moon.

    Copa America

Loved Messi shouting at Mina after his miss as well, telling him to dance. Sadly not a cat in hell's chance Argentina will win that final, they always blow it.
  8. £10 free bet on 365 - Busquets/Veratti/Chiellini bookings 60/1
  9. Come to me for all your Mwepu shot data needs.
  10. This post seems to start with an accusation that England are overconfident before going on to say that they're rubbish and Denmark are definitely going to win. Who's being overconfident again?
  11. Never heard anything so ridiculous. Part of the reason England continue to look so comfortable is because we spent most of the group stage expending as little energy as possible. The players in our squad have played more football in the last 12 months than any other country, yet here we are in the semis and we look the freshest around, we've hardly sweated a bead.
  12. Here's me thinking the point of entering an international tournament was to try and win it. Turns out the point is actually to expend all your energy in the group stages to rack up the goal difference so that you don't get accused of being boring. Utterly horrendous patter.
  13. England and Fraudgate limp on I see, Greece-ing their way through the tournament, one parked bus after another.
  14. It's been like that basically all tournament.
  15. https://www.whoscored.com/Glossary Tackle - Dispossessing an opponent, whether the tackling player comes away with the ball or not Bonucci has only made 1 tackle in the tournament so far fwiw.
  16. The performance against Sweden in the WC after the penalty win over Colombia was very solid and professional. England might not win this tie but I don't expect complacency to be the issue.
  17. I'd be giving them the Vs and a load of abuse. I never mentioned whistling, whistling doesn't make me feel like a child at a pantomime. I just don't get booing.
  18. As an adult I can't even imagine booing anything. I just did it alone and I felt absolutely ridiculous. Try it. Imagine doing that in public.

Love to know if a single person in the Sun office thought that was even mildly amusing.

I think we play like a boring good team. Benitez's Liverpool, Tuchel's Chelsea, basically any Juventus team you can remember before the last year or two. Win 1-0 or 2-0 most games, get the job done with a minimum of fuss, especially in cups, where results matter most. I think we'll put at least 3 past Ukraine fwiw.
  21. They do, it's called Outright Forecast. Go to the Euros section, Outrights then choose to Change the market (next to Win Outright), it's in there.

Batten down the hatches?? Is that how you think England played yesterday? I find that an outrageous statement.

I don't even believe that these teams exist. They're a fiction that tends to be retrospectively applied to whichever team wins the latest tournament.
