Not really. I agree. Well for a start, what do you mean by there being no rush? Is there usually a rush of Premiership clubs come in for a manager (and obviously sack their own) when he leaves his current post? I've never seen this happen before. So you are concentrating on one word: 'rush' rather than the gist of the thread and opening post? So your point is simply that he was out of work before Ashley brought him back? Well spotted. He said first time round that this would be the only job to bring him back to football and then said it again second time. I've no reason to disbelieve him.

By that you only mean he never gets sacked though surely? Buggers off before anyone gets chance to. As a temporary measure he works out well, but after his first spell at Newcastle he didn't stay in any job for a great length of time, did he? Couple of seasons at City being the longest he managed if I remember rightly. That's a good thing surely? Knows when his time is up, doesn't cost anything etc. He left Fulham to take over the England job, that's not really the same as walking away, anyone else would do the same. He was at City for four years, got them promoted and left them as an established Premiership club. His record stands up to any scrutiny. Football is a strange beast whereby walking instead of waiting for a massive payoff seems to be frowned upon.

http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/sport/article22410.ece ASTONISHED Kevin Keegan was told to research Newcastle’s last two signings on the INTERNET! Keegan was summoned to St James’s Park on Monday to be told the club were close to signing Spanish striker Xisco and Uruguay’s Ignacio Gonzalez. When the Toon boss angrily claimed he had never heard of them he was told to search on YouTube. A friend of Keegan said: “Kevin was called in and told the club were about to finalise deals for two players. “When he asked who they were he was stunned to discover he had never heard of them. “He felt they were non-entities, not the kind of players who could make any impact in the Premier League. “He voiced his doubts and was told he should look them up on YouTube so he could see what he was getting. “Even then he struggled to find any footage. “But that was just typical of the way things were going at the end of his time at Newcastle. Kevin felt undermined and humiliated. It was as if he didn’t matter, that he was just some kind of pawn that Tony Jimenez and Dennis Wise could move about or ignore. “It got to the stage where he couldn’t work with them any more and had to get out.” Keegan contacted several players on Wednesday thanking them for support during “the hardest time I've ever experienced in football”. As one source close to Keegan explained: “He had been treated like a dog. He had to front up all the decisions that had been taken behind his back because nobody was big enough to step out of the shadows. “First he tells the fans James Milner is a vital part of his plans. Then, when he’s sold, it was Kevin who had to go in front of the fans again and say ‘Trust me’. “He felt there was only so many times he could ask for that trust, especially when the likes of Jimenez and Wise were cutting him off at the knees. “His position became impossible. He hated what was happening at the club he loved . . . so he had to get out.”

What should Bobby have done then seeing as you've criticized him for staying on and you've criticized KK for walking?

i beg them not to do this, it will tear the club apart. even if it is for their own safety they shouldnt do it. if this is true (and i hope its not) then it shows keegan has no option but to wage a war of words through his union, whereas Ashley and Co are simply doing it out of spite, irregardless of the harm caused to the fans or the club. maybe they are sick of it just want to fuck as many people over as they can before they get out I'm thinking this is exactly what they're doing. They can't seriously expect tonight's statement to do anything other than inflame an already volatile situation. If there's any truth in anyone wanting to make an offer for the club, as long as he gets his money back I think he'll be off before you can say "resale value".

Of course he could have walked earlier, maybe he thought things might change for the better. Well seeing as he last until Sept 2nd, he surely should have known it would be 3-4 months before they "interferred" again, and he could have just got on with managing the team. And if we're 15th at Christmas, who gets the blame for that with the fans and with the papers? While if we're top 8 which is just as likely, who gets all the praise? Not really the point is it? If KK thinks he's been left with a sub-standard squad because of false promises to him, he's the one who'll get the bullet if it all goes to shit. And plenty people (including yourself) are praising the "recruitment team" because some of our new players have had a good game, so it could just as easily be them. When results aren't forthcoming though, there is only ever one person (other than the players) who gets the flack.

Won't happen. The cost of clearing up after the riots would cost the club more than they've paid for players for a start.

yep, doesnt make us look especially ambitious. what happened to caring about how good the player was on the pitch and what they can bring to the club while they are here? turns out for various reasons that Craig Bellamy and Laurent Robert had very litle resale value, but the impact they had on the club being a success on the pitch was massive. Exactly. I'm all for bringing in good young talent but you need a mix. How much re-sale did we get back from paying over a million (a lot at the time, especially for a newly promoted club) for a 32 year old Peter Beardsley? As NJS says, they seem to want us to write off the next few seasons while these players develop. At £500 a pop Mike?
-
If NUFC are so big on developing young players with high re-sale value (and we discount Danny Guthrie), who are we talking about? Colo's 26 and already an established Argentinian international, Jonas is 25, Gonzalez is 26 and on loan, which leaves us with Bassong and Xisco. Hardly Arsenal-esque is it? I appreciate they're bringing academy players in but I really don't think academy players he didn't want would have been an issue for KK (unless he's seen Nile Ranger's Myspace and that's what kicked everything off). Incidentally, the quote from this horrendous smear campaign - "Now where’s the resale value of any of those players?" hurts the club a lot more than it does KK.

Now that statement's just silly everybody knows M. Bison was the only character in the entire game who couldn't kick! It depends where in the world you are. In Japan, M.Bison was the Mike Tyson style boxer, who couldn't kick. In the West, M.Bison was the final boss, who could not only kick but kick with added big fuck off blue lightening shit. Really, Balrog? I did not know that. Mind, until a fortnight ago, I didn't realise Dr Robotnik was known as anything other than that.
-
Who do you want, Wullie? King Kev back? I assumed you were joking. You think we should hire a manager who walked away from his last job after a dispute with the board over transfers?
-
Now that I do agree with. We can do without more of this utter farce - the club still carries on and we need to starting salvaging whatever's possible of this season ASAP. some people will NEVER forget and i am one I'm not saying forget about it. I'm saying there is a game a week today. and you would be behind the board appointing another manager, terry mac will be in charge Apparently not - it'll be Richard Money. He's too tight to mention, which'll go down well with the board anyway.
-
Aye, I meant to mention Vetere there, Johnny. I'm not having anyone tell me that those three haven't scouted these players but Dennis Wise has.
-
Nowhere in the statement did it say, "Keegan reports to Dennis Wise". Eh? What's to say what you quoted isn't correct? And I bolded the wrong part, but still brings up a point...you could argue that players such as Gutierrez, Xisco, Bassong & Gonzalez were players we weren't aware of...and he "brought to our attention". If it's not correct, he's lied to the supporters who've paid over a grand to watch a team put together by Kevin Keegan over the next three years. And yes, Wise probably has. No-one has suggested he wasn't doing his job in that sense (though he hasn't done anywhere near the job he should have imo). Having said that though, we've got a scout (Fucillo I think his name is) who is Spanish and has previously been based over there, as well as Jimenez, I'd wager they had more of an impact. Can we not have them without that little shit ordering the manager round?

Maybe Jimenez was the DOF? Don't get me wrong, I hate Wise as much as the next person, but since Jiminez is titled as 'Vice President (Player Recruitment)' I think it's probably him who is this so-called Director of Football (even though the club has never used that term until now, strange). Wise is "Executive Director (Football)"
