  1. Was gonna be tough, whoever we got. Mind - Arsenal and City were always going to be kept apart, IMO. All we can do is give it our best shot.
  2. Wasn't pretty, but it's job done. Draw is at 1030pm I think.
  3. It's been OK, but once again - we are very easy to play through on the counter.

    Dan Burn

50/50 for me, with the lad being a bit late on Dan - so worthy of a yellow.
  5. Another 'missing' game from our England winger. His league form this season has been really poor. Needs a spell on the sidelines and a rocket up his arse. Won't be a shoe in for the WC squad if he keeps on producing turgid shite.
  6. A game to forget for him today and I don't doubt he will get some pelters from our support. The lad looks shattered, but it's not helped by the way we are playing at the moment. I guess Wissa will start v Fulham on Weds.
  7. His confidence looks shot to pieces. I still think he will come good in time, but he doesn't really have that luxury at the moment.

    Dan Burn

Apparently he's in hospital - club have released a statement. Said to wor lass at the time that I reckon he'll have at least one bust rib - gonna be a spell on the sidelines i reckon.
  9. write up from .com; Premier League: Woltemare mackems 1 Newcastle 0 The 156th senior competitive Tyne-wear derby took place this afternoon in SR5 and went the way of the team that actually turned up. Fittingly a United blunder gifted the hosts victory on an afternoon when a bemusingly pathetic display from those in blue got what it merited. Nothing. It appeared that Eddie Howe had set his side up for a scoreless draw but Nick Woltemade had other ideas, planting a firm header past Aaron Ramsdale inside the first minute of the second half. Quite what the German was attempting is anyone's guess as he met a cross from the right unopposed in his own area. A deft flick would have taken it away and a firm header could have conceded a corner but what he managed was perfect in its execution to leave Ramsdale helpless. He looked suitably distraught but he and his colleagues attempts to salvage the situation bordered on desperate and hapless for the rest of the second period as R Le Bris' side comfortably absorbed some minimal pressure. The only fight shown by Eddie Howe's side came in the final few seconds as both sides squared up to each other following Joe Willock's nothing challenge on Robin Roefs. It was an apology of a performance from a side that didn't want to be there and had absolutely no game plan - timid or intimidated, the outcome was the same with United contributing little to what was an atrocious game of football. Dan Burn suffered a blow in the first half that could have seen his assailant removed from the pitch but instead of Nordi Mukiele being red-carded he only saw yellow when his deliberate knee into Burn's chest saw the Blyth man ultimately leave the field. Fabian Schar replaced the big man in central defence but most of the problems came at the other end of the pitch where Anthonys Gordon and Elanga were at their worst, both managing to dribble the ball out of play to the home fans' merriment. Others managing to severely dent their reputations including Sandro Tonali who was withdrawn before the hour looking less than match fit and the goalscorer who eventually made way for Yoane Wissa in the 75th minute. That switch was utterly futile, although the number nine almost got on the end of a deflected cross five minutes after joining the action. Substitutes Jacob Murphy and Harvey Barnes also contributed very little in the final half hour. Ramsdale stopped mackem substitute Wilson Isidor's fierce near post drive late on but had an otherwise quiet afternoon. This was as meek a derby display as we've served up in living memory. It was as unpalatable as it was unfathomable, summed up by the way it was lost. The last few seconds of confrontation between the two sides saw Bruno, Willock and Malick Thiaw all cautioned while Isidor saw yellow for them. Granit Xhaka also left the field for treatment to a cut eye.
  10. Awful all round today and it’s not the first time. Big questions for him and the board to answer. No way on gods earth this team qualifies for Europe via the league this season. Mid table at best.
  11. Deserved nothing today - played with fear from the very start. Mackems clearly wanted it more. Our team mentality and away form is really shocking and needs addressing.
  12. Scrappy first half - lots of our lot look knackered (Gordon, Tonali) - could argue we are sitting a bit too deep - got to get 5 yards further up the pitch, 2nd half. They look a lot fresher, which is to be expected.
  13. Bit of a migraine for me today - first one for a month, so loaded up with painkillers. Gonna head along to my dad's to watch with him - hopefully.
  14. 1-1 draw at home for Blyth Spartans, yesterday v Hallam. They and town are beginning to cut get a drift. Ashington beat Ossett United 3-2 and have moved out of the relegation zone.
  15. He played for Sunderland just before I began supporting Newcastle. RIP Gary.
  16. Eddie has said that Jo is unlikely to be fit (what I read on .com)
  17. Would have taken a point if offered, before the game. Disappointing to be undone by another late goal. That's football though.
  18. Gordon been terrific since half time. Going at his man on the outside.
