  1. Doesn't really bode well for the rest of Europe, because the CL will become as predictable at the Premiership - despite what the likes of ITV and Sky tell you.
  2. I went to a game against Oxford, back in 90/91 when there was 9500 there. Game got called off at HT due to it pissing down (score was 1-1 - Mick Quinn scored for us) Should never have started.
  3. Didn't catch much of the Liverpool game, but the result is one helluva pasting for Real. And with Chelsea getting through against Juve - is the gap between the top 4 english clubs and the rest of Europe getting as wide as it is with them and the rest of us in the Prem?
  4. I'd hope the club never goes down that road, but I wouldn't be surprised if it happens. All PL clubs would sell their own grandmother, if they thought there was a few quid in it for them.
  5. Gateshead are doing very well - don't they have a millionaire backer though? Will be interesting to see if they can survive Conference football on the piss poor gates they get. That said, Ian Bogie has done a superb job. Puts Blyth to shame really, as we've done f**k all since our FA Cup run and look in real danger of relegation.
  6. Need to get the lad sorted with a much better deal. He's been our 'find' of the season and has put in some sterling performances at DC. I hope it's merely agent tittle-tattle, but knowing this club - we'll do our best to screw it up.

    SHEARER

Shearer would be mad to touch this job at the moment and also there's no way he'd be a part of the club under Ashley's regime. As for MotD - he'll have to keep his preference in check, otherwise there would be a shed load of complaints. He was nothing but a fantastic servant to the club, during his time here. Why some folk choose to stick the knife in at times, is beyond me.
  8. Remember fellas - this is the NotW. Not well known for having their fingers on the pulse!
  9. It's the whole idea about paying upfront for players (no outstanding debts) and waiting for income from player sold. Ashley will be able to tell potential buyers that there will be income coming into the club over a period of time from players who have been sold on (like Given, Milner and Charlie) The club is still very much for sale.
  10. Even if we do stay up, for me it's only delaying the inevitable and next season will be another struggle. The intent of those running the club, is to run it on what amounts to petrol fumes until a buyer can be found.
  11. I think Supermac had something to do with us signing Mirandinha. Not sure if he brokered the deal or not.
  12. When he first joined the club, he was given a house in Bedlington (on The Chesters estate) Regularly used to have kickabouts with the little'uns who lived around there at the time. Loads of my old schoolmates had his autograph. Really sound bloke by all accounts. Also remember Gazza taking him 'under his wing' and teaching him all of the English and geordie swearwords!
  13. Was a shot in the dark, if I'm honest.
  14. It simply is a must-win game now. Again I question the players attitude - if they can be up for Man United at home, why can't they manage it for the likes of Bolton and Blackburn away?
  15. For the record, I still believe we'll go down and the reason is a lack of attitude. Find it pretty galling that we can turn up and put in a performance against the Mancs and yet do absolutely bugger all at the likes of Blackburn and Bolton. Hope I'm wrong, but have just got the feeling in my water.
  16. Good performance - at least they had a go. However, undone with the good-old self destruct button. Just hope that's not it for the next 4-5 games and we'll revert back to type for the like of Hull and Stoke.
  17. Andy Carroll coming on - Martins off, anyone? EDIT on for Ryan Taylor.
