Defence: Philipp Lahm - LB contracted till 30 June 2007 according to Bayern Website!!! Quality player Geremi - RB, CM, RW decent player and free too. Jorge Andrade - CB, LB came back from serious knee injury later this season but is credited for keeping deportivo up by shoring up the defence. I believe he's left footed so could provide cover at LB. They want to sell too cos they are in financial do do Cris of Lyon - good CB. Habib Beye - CB, and RB other than Lahm not of these should cost too much money, Cris and Andrade maybe 8m each max , Beye, 2m, Geremi free, Lahm £10m Midfield: Ryan Babel - Excellent at U21 championship and a quality attack player either as a striker or winger Stephen Appiah - CM him and Barton would probably give the highest work rate in the league this guy is an absolute power house and he is box to box and scores great goals. Appiah mabe 8m and Babel 6m Don't think we need any more strikers but we should be able to get these guys for £50m NB Please dont go on saying such and such will never come, just give them big contracts, money talks (it worked for Chel$ki).

If we were going to sell him I'd sell him next summer as he'll only have a year left on his contract and I doubt he'll want to renew it. I can't see him leaving full stop especially not on the contract he is on. I mean Thierry Henry only recently singed a new contract of 100K per week at Arsenal and Owen earns 110K per week. Only Chelski or Man U could offer those terms and FFS has already clearly stated there is no clause.

Titus is certainly playing better now than he ever has for us. I think as a centre half you only really reach your peak round about 28-30ish. I recently read that Gerrard rates Carragher as one of the best centre halfs in Europe. I rate him this well too but I can't remeber hearing much about him four years ago i.e. when he was Titus's age. I think he is worthy of a new contract based on recent performances and I think he will become a great player in a few years when he does eventually reach his peak.

Baines would be too expensive but is a great player. I would go for that Bale kid at Southampton, he is considered their best player and has one hell of a shot on him (good free kick taker). Southampton are in financial dire straights and this kid has rave reviews for his defending and attacking (at only 17). I reakon maybe 3-4 million tops for him. Another player I would go for is Lucas Neil who despite being a dirty player (a clever oneat that), is a great defender and can play RB and CB and would give our defence some extra steel and bite. He's out of contract in the summer so only a nominal fee would probably do 500-750K. Also Upson and Distin would be good choices and again due to their contractual situation would be relatively cheap. If the rumours I have been hearing are true them Bramble is off to Rangers so we will need reinforcements in the defence area 2-3 players would provide a good defence squad with the other players we have. As for stikers (which we need one), I would try and temp Reading into selling Doyle who I like the look of. maybe 5-6m would be enough. What do others think of him?

Like many people has said he's not FULL BACK! He's a 6ft centre half who has played well in his natural postion when i have seen him play. A centre half wins headers and goes in for tackles differently than a full back. Full backs have people running at them and dribbling more than a centre half. Try keeping your balance against a smaller opponent who has a lower centre of gravity when they are twisting or turning. Also try playing in a role when most of your passing/crossing is with your weaker foot (I know most footballers should be able to do this but don't just blame Ramage for it when most of the other players in EPL can't do it either). People rate Carragher, JT and co, you put them as a full back and they would be terrible too (Carragher has player full back and was pretty woeful for 'pool). People keep banging on about not being premiership standard - we have conceded 15 goals this season which when I have checked is the same a Spurs, Liverpool, and man city and we are joint 9 in the league for this. What we cant do is seem to score goals (a total of 8) which makes us joint bottom with Sheff Wed. What we really need to do is stop worrying about the defence and start worrying about scoring goals because if we can do that then we can get back up the table.

Well for a team who doesn't appear to be defending didn't someone point out in the papers the other day that we have only conceeded ONE more goal than liverpool (in the league if IIRCC)?? Now who wouldn't have messers Carragher and co over our (apparent) terrible lot?
