  1. A bit too far imo. Liverpool will always be more "ambitious" than us even if we were somehow spending the same amount of money and you and I both know he'll be in the next Spanish squad. Maybe but clubs will soon have to be run within their means so I would rather look to the future than dwell in the past. Still don't think he make the next Spain quad BTW.
  2. Signing players like Jordan Henderson and carol for ridiculous sums of money doesn't make ambition. We have signed some excellent players this summer albeit without spending silly money. With a decent strikes we have every chance of doing well this year. Enrique has moved on for is own reasons. We need to do the same. Not sure if playing in red will help his chances of playing for Spain mind.

    Erik Pieters

If its the French lad I am thinking of then he can be quite rash in challenges. I am sure he served some long bans for breaking legs etc. I think the dutch guy would be a safer option
  4. Idiot. He should know by now how to behave whilst he is being paid by his employers. Hes a "decent" player but has a massive ego and behavioural problems. Let's all look forward to finding a replacement player who for 50k per week behaves better and plays better than someone who even last season couldn't to the duration without assaulting someone (Pedereson). The only issue I have is getting new players to gel quickly as we have had a few key areas replaced but I guess we'll have to wait an see.
  5. Having looked at all of the team squads in ligue 1 he is the one of a few strikers who is relatively young and has a decent goal scoring record. The other one is the crouchie type with a name beginning with h. However I think pards is after a small mobile striker having already bid for erding

  9. If I remember the tackle correctly then Diaby has possession then turns and the ball goes away from him quite far and because this is the prem that is a mistake IMO so all Barton did was win the lose ball and catch him. If Diaby was a better player he would not have done that. Barton did win the ball and caught him but from the angle I saw it was towards the ball and not the player (completely different angles of approach) so a good tackle. Nothing like de Jong who didn't care about the sport or player when he took out BA. Let them bitch, just sore losers tbh. We made history this weekend. A F**KING FACT!
  10. Well Andy now you have to start justifying that £35 million and 80 grand a week to a set of fans who have witnessed Torres's ability for the last few seasons. You have a lot to live up to.
  11. Nolan is the nucleus. He's the one that galvinised the players. I mean more like the young nucleus that will get this club to Europe, which we all should expect. Nolan is the skipper and a great leader, but I'm talking more about the core of talented young players that we should be looking to build the team around. Nolan is good, but do we expect him to be here and contributing so much in 3-4 years? Carroll was the player that we should have been building our team around to get to Europe in the next couple of years. Now I suppose it's Ben Arfa, but I'm not so optimistic on him being around past next January with the current management. Carrol's one player though and it's a British record fee. I have taken off the NUFC rose tinted specticals and found that we will be able to buy some better all round players and add to a team that consists of 11 players not just 1 which everyone is built around. Lets see how he does at Liverpool without Norlan and Barton.

  13. Wullie the club was almost going to the wire under Shepherd before Ashely came in because of his spending so it's a moot point.
  14. ..but he's put a transfer request in. He doesn't want to be here now. Can anyone tell me how many goals he's created on his own and how many goals Barton floated onto his head this season?
  15. Who have they got who can provide Joey Barton-esq service?
  16. What we gonna do with the other 20 million?
  17. Walcott no thanks, jog on. He has more England caps than Carrol. Just my opinion but we need some pace up front and he has that in abundance. Heard some Italian player say he was the difference when Arsenal played them and he scored a hatrick or something in the Champs league. That story sticks in my mind for some reason. I can't beleive that we have sold a player for a fee which could buy Ben Afra at least 7 times over
  18. Alex Chamberlain and Walcott please. No way on planet earth is Andy Carrol worth 35-40m. Utter madness
  19. I beat him on Call of Duty the other night and he didn't delete me from his buddy list

  24. That's not my understanding of it. Just because they own the club doesn't mean they are personally liable for the company's debts. If the company goes bust, then the only assets that the creditors will be able to seize on are those that are part of the company. What's more, if they bought the company with money from the bank which was secured against the company's assets (which I think is the case), then it's the bank that's liable to lose out, not the owners. At the moment, the club is declining in value because the debt is increasing. In order to stem the debt, the club will have to sell its best players, which will affect its league position, which will lead to a further decline in value. So it's a vicious circle and neither the banks nor anyone else will be lending any more money in order to get the club out of it. What you need is some mega-rich football fan like Abramovich who is prepared to take on the mess, just for the status of being the owner of Liverpool FC. I'm sure that there is interest in buying the club, but it looks like they're circling the wagons, knowing that the current owners are sitting on a declining asset and will have to admit defeat at some time. The longer they wait, the cheaper the club is going to be. Trouble is, the owners are successful businessmen, and may not like admitting failure. There is some hope, in that the banks seem to have insisted on bringing in Broughton to oversee the sale of the club. But unless you get someone who is absolutely loaded, then the journey back up may be a long one. I am sure I read that they have this rolling 10% interest thing on the £100-odd million they put in to the club when they bought it. I think they also have a clause which means this debt is made payable immediately if the club changes hands. At this amount they will probably be holding out as long as they can until the bank calls in their loan (which they have no way of paying) which I also believe has a deadline in the not too distant future. The only way this 100-odd million plus rolling interest could be paid back is by selling their best players (assets). Of course they longer they hold on the more this amount will be so I guess they are just waiting until the bank makes their move to seize control then activate this clause which will need to be paid and then the banks will have to use what is left to settle the money owed to them. Bit bleak if you ask me. For those who are not aware Hicks and Gillette were involved in a pension scam involving Circatex / Viasystems in South Shields if I recall correctly where money was siphoned off / disappeared in a similar business model / set-up. They was an outcry of course but they just explored some loop holes.
  25. Lad I work with who has family in Liverpool said to me today that there are strong rumours going around there that Gerard has got a young lass pregnant. Anyone else heard this?
