Wow. Drop our new £10,000,000, number 9, at home, and play an on loan player because of the oppositions defensive style? That would either show Roeder as having lovely large balls, or a complete lack of faith. Either way, I don't think there was much chance of that happening.

No, I'll admit I was wrong there (though I never said he was two-footed, just that he had a decent right-foot) Fair enough, it wasn't meant as a dig and I hope Raconteur is right that it may just be a confidence issue. It would make a massive difference when he has the speed to get to the ball, to not have to stop and check back onto his left and lose any advantage that he might have just gained.

Quick question to the considerable number of people who raved about how amazingly two footed Martins was. Do you still believe this to be the case?
-
I'll happily exempt you then. My other points stand though. mr2j.gif

What a joke the Sun is, TBH a few Newcastle fans will look at that and get on his back. Does it matter if they do? They won't have attended the game if they base their judgement from the Sun, so they are unlikely to again be there to show their disgust the next time around, will they?

Not a criticism but it is striking that most of the initial comments were from people not at the match. Martins strikes me as a player who can certainly be of use to us, but I can understand the concern when our new number 9, a £10 million plus player fails to make much of an impact. Deal with the concerns, hope he does better and move on. It is harsh to judge a player either way this early on, and just as I cannot understand any vitriol sent his way (and I havn't seen any at the games I have attended), I equally cannot understand the need to fawn over him which seems to be the aim of this thread.

Hull do it. It is a three year course unless you pay cash in advance.

Best not to complain. Just bend over and take it, huzzah!

This has 'SHEPHERD TROPHY SIGNING' written al over it tbh.

   Oh fuck I fucking crying here!!!! No, really. bluecry.gif

Aye, this forum is pathetic! Your defence of this signing is pathetic! Weee we can all do it!
-
I'll give you a clue: He's shite. And no, he can't head a ball. Scored one headed goal that I can remember (Spectacular long range one to be fair). Also as slow as a 3 legged donkey running backwards in quicksand. Good pro to be fair, always worked hard and never complained about being played all over the place - or dropped - as he has been, completely, for every game this season. There will be much rejoicing in this part of the world if this is true. Sorry, but I burst out laughing when I read this. Don't worry, I think that reaction is almost universal.

It's a coup I tell you. Fan fucking tastic signing, and well worth the months of scouting.
-
That'll bring the average age down!

Great signing. I'm off to shag a goat! http://www.eurosport.fr/football/tp_sto955233.shtml

Attributing blame is fucking necessary in my humble opinion. If we are looking to compete, and we stay as we are, heads should roll.

So he looks for other targets then, no. Roeder was happy in his ignorance that we had never asked how much Kuyt was and still scouted him when he was on the cusp of signing for someone else. Is this kind of window shopping syndrome wholly Shepherds fault. Is it, my arse. A smokescreen possibly ? Roeder's admitted in the last few weeks that such tactics have been used this summer with regards to the media. A smokescreen? It's possible. I still have hope, and await the revelations. Come on ye bustards. headphonedance.gif

Well whoopdy farking doo. What now gentlemen?

Are we not getting Steeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed! EDIT: No we fucking are not.

No mention of possible defenders, other Neill. This is disturbing. This is just as disturbing...

Again not a good enough excuse. If we have had around £20 milliom to spend (which if we are still in for players like Huth must be the case) then that is a fair chunk. Jaysus, Redknapp has spent nothing on outfield players and has still managed to shore up gaps in his squad with a striker, a midfielder, and two defenders.

Another 24 hours and I think I'll be joining you. blink.gif

Even with the current squad relegation in a non issue. Get a grip lads, there will be new faces in (I trust Roeder on that), and even if we are ravaged with injury we still have the winter transfer window to bring in bodies. Roeder is rightly looking to match last season or better it if he gets in who he is looking at now, and yet you talk of relegation? Jaysus.
