  3. Honestly this Modric transfer is taking fuking ages. Fuking sign him up already!!!
  4. Mort: Taylor contract will be sorted http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2008/04/23/mort-taylor-contract-will-be-sorted-72703-20805851/ NEWCASTLE United defender Steven Taylor’s long-running contract saga should be resolved soon. That was the pledge today from United chairman Chris Mort, who feels he can concentrate on players' contracts now boss Kevin Keegan has ensured the club will be playing Premier League football again next season. The news follows hard on the heels of the Chronicle revealing on Monday that Mort was hoping to have striker Michael Owen tied up on a new deal. Obafemi Martins' agents and representatives are also pushing for a new contract for the little Nigerian international forward. But a United source told me today: “Talk of a new contract for Obafemi Martins is news to us.” Reports of £90,000 a week for Martins must have left Taylor wondering, but the England Under-21 captain is staying cool about the situation. However, he will be encouraged by the words of his chairman, with Mort telling me today: “Steven Taylor is a young and very promising defender. “We would like him to stay at the club long term. “We will sit down with Steven and his father and hopefully work something out.” Taylor has been content to let his father Alf handle all his contract talks with United, but he has now engaged London-based agent Leon Angel, who represents a lot of top players, to look after his financial interests. The 22-year-old, from Greenwich, who has another year on his contract, was offered what was described as a new and improved deal in September – but it would still have left him as one of the lowest-paid players in United’s first-team squad. Mort hopes to resolve the situation before Taylor heads off for a well-earned summer break and this will delight the Geordie boy, who cannot see beyond a future at St James’ Park. There is talk of Taylor being joined at United by Spurs central defender Anthony Gardner, currently on loan at Everton, but I am not so sure he is on Keegan’s summer shopping list. Meanwhile, another of the men appointed by ex-boss Sam Allardyce during his ill-fated reign has left the club. The highly-rated video analyst Dave Fallows has parted company with United, leaving Allardyce’s men rather thin on the ground. The United hierarchy of Dennis Wise, Tony Jimenez and Jeff Vetere have acted quickly by replacing Fallows with Mike Crompton.
  5. I thinks that's the plan, to sell him before the EURO. Price can't be much bigger than what's being speculated atm. Wouldnt it be in the clubs best interest to sell him after the EUROs so that more clubs get to see him in action and get into a bidding war? I cant see the sense in wanting to sell one of the best youngsters around before a major tournament. They won't get much more than what we're offering before or after the tournament tbh. So wheres the sense in not giving him that oppurtunity to raise his value in a major tournament if the chances they wouldnt lose either way a la Royston Drenthe. Could get injured and wont be able to move until the next window.
  6. One of the ones reporting it is supposed to be reliable the others not Trust me mate, not one of these is close to reliable. The only thing that separates them is the limit to which they stretch their imagination when writing these kind of reports. Those that are more reliable only tend to bring the same report but with slightly less Martians and Indians involved. I hope that made some sense. Martians and Indians? Martins and........ We've had a few cowboys in our time.
  7. Thought Hargreaves was given that job?
  8. Its a move that means were really going somewhere. Modric or Diego, either one of those would signal a new dawn.
  9. £20m for Modric starts to put us in the £50m+ realm imo.
  10. The reaction: http://www.readytogo.net/smb/showthread.php?t=323634 Actually someone makes a valid point, Ashley owns 15% of Umbro so they are fooked whichever way they look at it
  11. So i take it Ashley is undercutting them on purpose? Basically knocking a tenner off a new shirt selling them at cost? Excellent. Hope he sticks up a few adverts around Sunderland as well and every shirt sold (receipt, raffle ticket etc...) is entered into a free prize draw for a Mackem season ticket. See how many go to the local club shop then.
  12. The fukers are desperate to sell, this is a wave to be put out so other teams can see what is going on.
  13. They'd have had to have heard of Boyle Sports first, that's NUFC & the fans!

  16. Apart from convicted rapists when they do the Lottery.................. tbf i thought KD won it after release?
  17. No shit. I am making a judgment on his signing. My judgment is we threw away a lot of money and he hasn't been worth the £16m we paid for him. I am also of the opinion that his finishing isn't 'world-class' and that he's no longer deserving of the 'world-class' label that so many seem quite happy to refer to him as. Comprende? In retrospect yes but not at the time. Huge and significant difference in evaluating the 'decision' to buy him, rather than the evaluation of the purchase in hindsight. I hate going over covered ground already (especially since other people have done so) but we overpaid for him if you consider how desperate he was to leave, how Real were willing to let him leave, his performances in the 2 or so seasons prior to that summer and the other teams in direct competition with us for his signing. This isn't hindsight - at least the judgment on his fee isn't. I was excited to have him in the team but we overpaid. Not by much though. £12-13m is what i'd have priced him at. Don't forget £3.5m of the fee was money owed to us from Madrid from the Woody sale in which we fleeced them in all fairness. Overall i'd say we paid what he was worth to us at the time, however putting all our eggs in one suspect (in terms of injuries) basket was never a smart move, we needed another striker.
  18. I'd say Viduka is a better finisher than Owen FWIW.
  19. I really don't think we should be put off signing Riise just because of last night. Bit rich you lecturing people on not having knee-jerk reactions isn't it? Does a knee jerk count as 3-4 years old these days like? Do i have to dislike a player from birth without it being a Knee jerk?
  20. I really don't think we should be put off signing Riise just because of last night. You think i don't want Riise just because of last night? FFS.
  21. He doesn't get paid while in jail, that's as far as it will go. People cannot make money on the outside while in prison anyway iirc.
  22. He's provided a few laugh out loud moments this season. SSN's get him in for every game just in hope Liverpool fuk up and everyone can laugh at him. Fair play to him, he must be as sick as a cunt.
  23. I've played it 3 times and still don't know, that does sound quite close. Maybe it was a nickname from when he was there!
