Love it how they once a season filled their ground (against us and heavily subsidised with free tickets) and we sell out pretty much every game, even in the championship, yet the level of support is somehow the same. What they are getting now is their true reflection, with no free tickets on offer. Even those who’ve paid currently aren’t turning up. If we had any success we’d need a bigger ground, they’d just about fill theirs on the cheap. But yer knaa, it’s canny similar.
  3. If she's got £7bn then it's going to be Liverpool or even manu
  4. Wonder if us being linked to that Turkish striker has anything to do with potential suitors? Also £60m on 3 players this window would have us fighting fit..sell some fringe next summer and start bringing in a player a window and we're laughing. It doesn't take much to maintain us, just a tad of ambition. Tbh you'll claw a lot back having the clubs merchandise back under its own banner and it'll rocket knowing you aren't putting money in to Ashley's pocket.
  5. Nobody can sell the club as well as Keegan. If I were Ashley I'd be on the phone to him and offer him a selling fee, we'd be gone in days. But no, manager needs absolute power.
  6. Bloke (some "expert") on totalsport saying its a game changer cause it means the buyer will be able to invest in the squad while still buying the club Tend to agree with Odin. None of the buyers of Man City, Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal's investors, Everton's new guy nor Bournemouths new guy have needed to stage payments to be able to invest in the playing squad. Strikes me that no 'big' players are sniffing if he's got to incentivise potential buyers with staged payments so publically. Possibly a nicer way of saying some money can be deferred until the HMRC case is closed. Potentially but normally when there is any type of liability or potential for wrongdoing to cost a buyer money then they would seek some from of covenant until it was resolved. So, say for example, the two sets of Lawyers agree that the potential liability of the tax case is £10m - there could be an agreement that this is set aside until a judgement is made one way or the other. I'd say that's what we would do in relation to the HMRC matter. I certainly don't see it as a deal breaker providing we can estimate the potential liaibilities and penalties etc. I don’t know how you could quantify relegation, possibly several leagues (not that I believe this is a football matter, just worst case) plus all that comes with it. No one really knows what the punishment will be if guilty and because of that it’s no normal liability clause needed. Their Lawyers will have already advised them on this, probably after discussions with HMRC's lawyers. If points deductions are a legitimate option then, I agree, selling the club would be much more difficult. If the advantage was purely financial/commercial then I'd expect some form of fine, penalties from HMRC and also the tax to be repaid. Ashley won't go quietly on it though so the lawyers could drag it out for ten years easily if they wanted to. I'd say any advantage gained is lost through relegation, though i really cannot see the FA inflicting points deductions nevermind relegations when WHAM & Chelsea are still being investigated at the same level as we are
  7. £250m valuation, plus £130m debt, so £380m. That's how he sees it, anyway.

  10. So Ashley wants the club sold asap as to not attract attention to SD.com and their dealings or hidings from the HMRC. That's all this is, self preservation.
  11. Yup. He's just been unlucky in 2017 with injuries and because of it has lost confidence in his body. Very similar to Sturridge. Could get over it next time he returns, could plague him for years but its not uncommon and he certainly isn't finished. Not yet, anyway. More worrying for him is that he doesn't fit Rafa's style, Joselu does. Wonder if Gayle could drop back in to the 10 role or go out wide while he regains fitness and form?

http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/sunderland-hand-jack-rodwell-chance-13758808 “He told me that, before going into the first team, he had played centre-half for Everton and also through the age groups with England, and he felt that might be his best position because psychologically, and maybe physically as well, his body can’t take the demands of playing in midfield any more. Fucking hell

Best thing to do would be to shift players, when they struggle again to shift high earners f***ing around not putting the effort in then other avenues will be explored. Who wants to buy their players? It's like them saying that Short should get out of their club.... you need a buyer before you can sell. Someone will pick Kone up for around £5m like. They were after double figures in the summer, they'll get half that now, he's just not interested at all and is now a liability.

He might just try and get rid of a few thousand pink seats. May as well. Not like anyone will be using them I reckon you aren't far off the mark. Strong whispers the training facilities are already being used to cover debts, wouldn't surprise me in the slightest to see the ground go the same way.

Btw, are they worse in the Championship than the Premiership? Quarter of a season gone, 1 win and no clean sheets.

Just wait until Jan when Short sells anything that isn't nailed down, including tangible assets, not just players.
  19. Cheers! Seem a generally switched on lot
  20. First signing Colback on loan.
  21. HMRC have no jurisdiction to dock points or demote leagues. The FA won’t force it, not when it’s more than likely we aren’t the only ones doing this (wham & chelsea also investigated). It’ll be widespread, not us coming up with some new scheme, so the FA will have to be real careful as it might be us this year but two years down the line it could be one of their star pupils. You think they’ll do the same to them? No chance. Then we’d have them over a barrel. Hefty fines (think the figures were less than £2m so even if it were ten times that amount we’d cope) and hopefully prison sentences for those involved. It’s not a sporting matter so the punishment can’t be aimed at the club on the field. If you say we gain advantage by saving money, then we’d be able to prove the amount saved wouldn’t give us any real points advantage and we’ve since lost any advantage being relegated. Additionally we won’t be able to pay any fines levied at us in the conference, it’s much better for hmrc to get their pound of flesh from us where we are. This if we’ve actually done anything wrong, still no evidence of that apart from paper talk.
