How does the British players being in the bottom half of that list tie up with your theories on culture shocks, whereas the majority of the foreign players are in the top half? Zog has been in England long enough, Bassong was making his debut and was staking his claim, Enrique was staking his claim, Colo is exceptional and wasn't really tested. Butt's near the bottom because he was the worst player on the pitch in terms of ability.

I like it how he remains forward to offer an attacking option if we win the ball back after a set piece. I reckon he's gonna get a 30-yarder and a couple of assists this season, not to mention a few headed/tap in goals from set pieces.

I wont give ratings tonight, but in order of great to less great, I'd say: Milner N'Zogbia Enrique Bassong Coloccini Owen Guthrie Given Gutierrez Butt Beye For me, only the top four in that list plus Given had the application to match the ability. Owen and Coloccini did their jobs with little fuss. The remainder showed that they were significantly better than the Coventry lot, but I was incredibly frustrated with their application.

WUM Stand by my comments, if you look at our performance from about 44 mins, some players would work much harder in the Premier League, Beye and Jonas in particular. Players jogged and didn't cover the ground they normally would. Fortunately our players are good enough to do that and still win, however, the complacency that went with the limited work rate forced the game into extra time. Doubt we'll be tired against Arsenal, as we've hardly had to work for the win. Jonas? his workrate was pheonominal for the entire game :lol: I never saw him in top gear. We know it is there, and even when not going at 100% his work rate is still better than some, but he was nowhere near the level of performance he set in the Premier League.

Probably put less effort in over 120 minutes than we would in 90 minutes of a Premier League game. A very unproffesional performance by some.

Don't worry about being tired versus Arsenal, we hardly burst a gut in the second half.

More advisable to have him on the bench, toy with Coventry in the first half, and then bring him on against more lethargic legs in the second half.
