No. Like I said yesterday, it is because the police won't allow a derby, and the other teams in the league write to the Premier League compilers to say that it is too far to expect their away fans to travel on Boxing day.

It is up to Newcastle United to make a huge public stand over this and pile accusations on the Premier League fixture compilers like Chelsea and Manchester United do. Otherwise we are just going to get the same again and again.

The only worry for me is the first month or so we might get knocked right off our feet if we let morale go, and end up dropping points in our second and fourth matches which are games we should win. Can't really see anywhere with a large group of consecutive unwinnable games. First month is always the best time to play Manchester United. We will line up with a goalkeeper, but at the beginning of each match he will punch the referee in the face and intentionally get sent off in order to give other teams a sporting chance. We only need the 10 outfield players. So Volkan? We'd need to get more than Volkan. Give me a few mins, and I'll do the maths, making the assumption that suspensions are for three game long offences, suspensions increase by one game for every red card, and we get knocked out in the first round of both cups. We need nine goalkeepers

Your far too sensible for these shores. How I wanted us to sign Bentley after his first stint at Norwich, but it was the same type of things being said about Guthrie and Larsson now. There is no guarantee these players will become as good as Bentley, but it is well worth taking a flier on a few of these types of players due to their reasonably cheap prices and potential for improvement. I'm all in favour for getting Larsson because with him I have seen the potential. With Guthrie, there isn't one moment from last season I can recall where he made a lasting impression. Have I not been paying attention, or are we advocating just siging ANY young English midfielder with Premiership experience because they might become a world beater? Have you seen much of Bolton from Holland? Because I live in England and I can't particularly say that I've seen enough of them to judge any of their players.
