  1. I've said this before, the bio of the guy who writes NUFC Blog is such a contrast to the content of the rest of the website. I think he genuinely believes what he writes, only he is the most gullible Newcastle fan out there.
  2. Martins would make a terrible left winger.
  3. AFAIK, if this source is the one I'm thinking of, for every correct ITK, there have been 2 incorrect.
  4. Just one question. How do you coach a scout? No Gary Glitter quotes please. Its a serious question. They are mostly ex-pros so know the game better than we do. Many start out freelance, so they have to prove themselves with helpful player reports.
  5. Can anyone clarify Keegan's no South Americans comment, in particular when it was uttered in relation to the legendary boardroom summons?

  8. To be honest, Given has probably gone as far as he can go. If we think we can get someone better without breaking the bank, I'm all for it.
  9. Wasn't Vetere supposed to have spent a few weeks in South America recently?
  10. That was my initial response after seeing what he did with my own eyes, but now I think I just won't applaud him.
  11. Sorry, but I do feel that this is a historic moment for football that clubs are starting to use this method to recruit players. For instance, Gerrard and Carragher can leave Liverpool for £12m next summer. Would have been double that for Gerrard previously. Anorak. And proud of it.
  12. You know that the only bits of him in the Argy video are the cross, him giving away a free kick, and him kissing the goalscorer? All the good bits were other players and he wasn't involved at all in those particular sequences.

  14. "errr chris, could you pop back up north for a week or two" The deal wouldn't look so good if those become the numbers we have to start thinking about. Sure we must have checked all avenues first mind. I'm sure there were teams that tried challenging the Bosman ruling when other players tried taking advantage of it. Fact is, Mallorca don't have a leg to stand on, I doubt they have been following the nuances of the Webster case, and as a consequence have probably been caught by suprise, hence the compo claim. Wouldn't you be pissed off if you could have sold a player for £7m in January, only for him to piss of somewhere else for £2m in July? I sympathise with Mallorca, but I think NUFC have had this one worked out good and proper, and as a consequence, the inflated transfer market is verging on collapse.
  15. Yeah, it is on their official site after he confirmed his departure yesterday.
  16. Over 23, so it is unlikely, but still possible.
  17. Indeed there are many courts, but you can appeal an counter-appeal, and it is these two courts who ultimately make the final decisions regardless of what gets said elsewhere.
  18. It is out of FIFA's hands, it is the EU which has forced this clause into FIFA law, and it is the CAS that has enforced it. Well whoevers done it, there idiots.. I can see a lot of court cases coming from this ruling, evenually ending in the ruling being changed. It has been to court, and has been victorious just like the Bosman ruling. Going to be very difficult to come back from this now.

  20. Thought I'd check if this ruling has any bearing in the Cristiano Ronaldo situation, it doesn't right now, but unless they can get him to sign a new contract, Real can get him for £5m in two years.
  21. Spanish league season finished May 18th. Jonas then has days (not sure how many exactly, lets say one week) to hand in his notice. To do this, he needed to be pretty sure that he had a destination in mind. During his notice period, you'd imagine that Mallorca may have tried to persuade him to stay, and that if he needed to speak with more than one club, he'd thrash out the best possible personal terms. He then confirmed his departure yesterday, leading to Mallorca announcing the news and threatening to sue him. Today he joined NUFC. -------------------------------------------------- That is all quite protracted, and it is very very very impressive that we kept this so quiet, although perhaps we needed too.
