We are bound to lose games and it is no sufficient reason to get on the bloke's back. Anyone who has an ounce of common sense will see that under the current circumstances with the probability of the squad quality being further reduced, those people on here spouting promotion could be way off the mark. This is a difficult division to get out of at the best of times. To be able to do it under the above conditions would be practically impossible. What Hughton has achieved so far is admirable and if anyone deserves a chance, he does. Remember that the previous times he was called upon to manage the club, the team was probably at the lowest ebb. This time, he has been given infinitely more time to work with the players under less stressful circumstances, to a large degree. The less stressful circumstances relate to the fact that we were already relegated this time around and noone expected the club to have such a good start to the season.
-
Stephen If he got us promoted under the current circumstances, I would be absolutely amazed and would think he deserved a chance to improve matters further. Chris Hughton has an extensive knowledge of the game and a career at the highest level. He has spent significantly more time in a coaching position than a certain Alan Shearer. I am not convinced Shearer has the qualities to succeed with NUFC.
-
I am not saying we should appoint Hughton ahead of others. What I am saying is that if the optiions were limited and it was a choice between JK, Hughton or some other lower level unproven manager, I would give Hughton a 12 month rolling contract. I think it is clear now that Shearer isnt going to be appointed as it looks like Ashley is staying. As for Allardyce, dont get me started on him.
-
You cannot really compare Mourinho and Hughton as they are completely different characters, having had completely different careers and coaching/managing clubs in completely different circumstances. IMO, Hughton deserved a great deal of praise in what he has achieved over the past three months. I would wonder how Mourinho would operate under similar circumstances. I certainly know how everyones local hero (and I discount myself as one of those), Keegan would operate under simlar circumstances. I would think Mourinho would do the same. Take a run and jump away from the club. Whilst Mourinho may be confident, he has never lacked the backing of funds and has mostly managed to get whoever he wants. He nhas never had to deal with players being sold on him or having to coach/manage his team with the limited resources available, no new players coming in etc etc etc. I would love to see how he would operate under similar circumstances to Hughton.

Get used to it if we dont get sold tomorrow
-
We shouild know on saturday night actually. If Shearer is on MOTD, then Ashley will be retaining the club.

errrrr Moyes...........Pot calling the kettle black? Pretty decent effort if reports are to be believed by naming his targets in the press. So, why is he complaining about Hughes naming Lescott as a target then? If they value Lescott at 30 million, I would be saying to Moyes, if you want Taylor, give us the 30 million you intend to cheat Citeh out of and you can also throw Cahill into the deal as well. In other words......Fuck him.
-
IMO Moyes would only be looking at Taylor if he could not get one of Shawcross, Senderos, Wheater or Huth. If he sold Lesoctt to Citeh, the deal would also include Dunne going the other way so I think Taylor will be staying, at least until January when hopefully, all things regarding NUFC will be clearer.

What about this as a possible scenario? Moat pays the deposit, Ashley guarantees the loan and once Moat takes over, Shepherd comes in with his investment and the money goes straight to Ashley. We all know Ashley would not sell to Shepherd directly, but who is to know if FS isnt going to support Ashley indirectly once Ashley turns the club over to Moat. Stranger things have happened. No more news from my friends regarding what I relayed earlier this week. I guess we just have to wait and see and be even more patient.

I thought long and hard about whetrher I should post this but decided to do so in the hope it is all correct. I guess we will know one way or the other soon. It is late here in Melbourne so Im off to bed to shag the missus.

Just thought you might like to know the reason why we suspect Viduka has not signed for Portsmouth or Fulham. The Hyundai A League, here in Australia will be operating with a new team from next season, Melbourne Heart. It is widely believed that Viduka will be returning home to Melbourne to mplay form this team as the @marquee@ player. There are a lot of rumourts going around here that Lothar Matthaes will be their new coach.
-
James Thanks. It ios second hand info so I am hoping it is true or else I am going to look a damn fool. Anyway, lets hope the info is right. I have been pressing him for a couple of months for info but he hasnt been able to tell me anything until last night. Fingers crossed guys.
-
Once this is all offical, I will reveal the club, but not until then. I can say that we have been in constant contact over the last few months about the state of the club and he has not been able to tell me anything until last night. Unfortunately, I have only just got in from work and been able to post this on here. I hope you appreciate the time difference is 9 hours.
-
No, not NUFC, but he is still involved with the club he signed for who are in the premiership and has close contacts with media and club officials
-
Yes, I live in Melbourne and my source is a former NUFC player who was transferred to a first division team in the late 1970s, whom I went to school with and we are still close, even though a world apart

Deal is done. Taylor is staying and Shearer will be in o0n thursday. At the game to watch tomorrow night
-
OK boys, looks like it is on. Ashley at training ground, announcing to the players that the takeover is done. Hughton in charge for SW game, Shearer to take up the reins on thursday. Taylor to stay, Barton and Collocini to go Campbell and Lvenkrands in Beckford in by next week plus three other signings already lined up. Carver and Lee to the club next week, Hughton to stay, Calderwood to go
-
I was more or less looking at what options the club may have for a manager other than Shearer or Kinnear. Sol--------Close to retirement, former international, has connections to the area, looking to start a career in management..........Ashley possibly using former Spuds connections, sounded out Sol...............has been done before...........Keegan, Souness, Dalglish, Gullitt, Viali, Adams etc etc etc Anyway, just looking at possibilities, nothing else really

Just had a thought, Campbell - Player Manager?
-
Try this for a conspiracy theory: Campbell at the ground today. Indicates he is discussing a contract (according to .com) Moat seen today, sitting between Ashley and Llambiase, shaking hands and deep in conversation (moat has his own exec box) Shearer returned from holiday in Portugal last friday. Moat's preferred choice as manager. Simpson signed last friday on loan (known to be on Shearer's list) Could this be that agreements has been reached on the following: 1. Moat to invest in NUFC with Ashley and become chairman with Llambiase to remain as a managing director 2. Ashley agrees to Shearer's return as manager, under advice from Moat on behalf of the fans. 3. Shearer, having already hinted several months ago, that a past english international would jin the club. 4. Campbell appointed player/defensive coach, having bought a house in Northumberland recently 5. Shearer so desperate to manage NUFC, he drops his current requests to be funded substantially, in favour of loans, fress, and cheap buys under the proviso that once the club is financially stable in 12 months, he gets substantial funds then to ensure success upon return to EPL. ProbAVLY CLTCHING AT SRRAWS THOUGH.

I am really pleased for the lad, after having to mcop so much crap from so called supporters like some of you on here over the years. Even now, some you numpties wont even give him the credit he deserves after scoring a hat trick. I suppose people like dcmk, or whatever your title is, could do better. Of course, you are getyting pad 20 grand a week in your job, you prick? Shola has done something even the great Michael Owen has failed to do, score goals against the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea, Man Utd and Barcelona, no mean feat. Yes, he looks awkward, yes he sometimes looks as though he doesnt care, but if this lad continues to score goals for us, he should be supported and not maligned, but you so called NUFC supporters. One more thing, I was extremely impressed with his interview after the game. He seems a genuine nice lad and being a geordie lad, I would have thought you lot would give him a bit more benefit of the doubt. Some of you guys are a disgrace.
-
Great effort by the fans at the Blackburn - Citeh game sininging only one bobby robson throughout the minute applause. He would be so proud.
-
So, who is going to buy him, at the market price we value him at? OK, he might be in the CCC but he is young, experienced in the EPL, captain of the under 21s and if Everton value Lescott at 22 million quid, we should ask for 15 million for Taylor at least
