Mackems?.... Badly laid out banners?.... Shirley not??!! http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/230082_169050156489383_109099755817757_423014_2561790_n.jpg Years ago I played a Sunday cup tie against a team in sundlund and we went back to some working mens club in one of the many dingy, run down, nondescript council estates which make up their "city". In pride of place behind the bar was a photo of some inbred half wits in R&W shirts with a banner, taken outside the Newcastle Arms and looking like they'd just reached the south pole or somewhere. Thing was you could tell by the light that the picture must have been taken at sunrise. They'd made a special trip there in the middle of the night to get their trophy photograph. No wonder they're known as the saddest fans in football.

With reference to earlier comments about Swansea, admirable as it is to play that kind of passing game it can actually be quite sterile to watch. It's arguable that the old Wimbledon "up and at them" game was more exciting. I don't think either way will lead to enduring success and the best teams will be able to mix it and vary their game against different opponents.

Credit to Boro this evening, Mowbray and his very young side certainly like to play passing football. Not that impressed with the makems but at the same time they always looked more likely to win.

This. I watched the game again on Monday and while I thought he played well at the time he played much better than I thought. Really outstanding performance. I'm not dismissing his performance at all, he did very well, but, and this is an unpopular view point, Perch played a big role in that, since he has no ability whatsover going forward, he just sat in there and played the destroyer role, freeing Guthrie up to do what he does best which is to supply a little creativity. Still backing up Tiote and Cabaye though despite his fine form, those two are by a mile our top pairing in the middle. Looked a decent player when we bought him and has now performed consistently well over 12 games this season. He was outstanding on Sunday and Perch was an excellent foil for him as you rightly say. Biggest compliment they can be paid is that we did not miss Cabaye and Tiote.

on win % it goes like this win % Keegan (92-97) 54.9 Robson 46.6 Roeder 45.8 Souness 44.8 Pardew 39.2 Dalglish 38.4 Hughton 36.8 * Gullit 34.6 Allardyce 33.3 Keegan (2008) 28.5 Kinnear 22.2 Hughton's win % including all competitive games in 10/11 season is 59.3% Hughton record in 10/11 Season (all comps) P 19 W 7 D 4 L 8 Isn't points per game a far more accurate indicator? I am never quite sure why people are always using win ratio. Sky television said everyone has to use that system from now on.

Think they'll hammer Boro tonight even without resorting to cheating. Cheating seems to be a big part of their game. Larsson is probably the worst offender, his handball on the line against Newcastle followed then running to the linesman and ref claiming that it hit his chest, and what about his amazing dive to win a penalty at Wolves. Their play acting to get opponents sent off and mock brandishing of cards to referees is pretty distasteful too.

Sam was a more popular appointment than AP but both came here with very good reputations within the game. Pardew faced a great deal of prejudice from some because of his origins and previous clubs but his reputaion of working with players was apparent immediately as all our players got straight behind him. The vast majority of the football world and nowadays the vast majority of NUFC fans rate him highly. A few people just don't like him for some reason, seems like they've made up their minds they never will. Very small minority, no big deal.

Oh dear. I know. We've had some thick mackems on here but this bloke takes it to a new level.

Ben Arfa is the most naturally talented player we have. A manager sometimes need flair and sometimes he wants solidity in his line up. HBA gives us loads of the former but very little of the latter. He is much more likely to be on the pitch if we're losing or in need of an injection of positivity and less likely to play if we're winning and hanging on to a game. For what it's worth I'd find somewhere in every starting XI for him. I think.
-
Yeah, it's good to have mackems coming on here to add intelligent balanced views to the debate. Welcome.

More razor sharp wit from everyone's favourite mackem.

Your initial posts we pathetic and insulting, but upon being found out (Doh!) you really seem to be wriggling. Ever thought about being a defence lawyer ? You may be able to help your club captain,Titus and Bentner. no they weren't, just an attempted wind up that was sussed early. he could've dragged it out and and got arsey but he didn't. "Ambition to see our great club where it belongs and where the geordie nation deserve to see their club be." Whatever. it's a well used streotypical caricature, just like the mackems have theirs. Agreed. Especially by mackems and on mackem "forums".

Aye. Came on here with all the usual clyched "Geordie nation" "big club" shyte for an attempted piss take, got seen through in about 30 seconds because essentially he's stupid and then wants to be our "canny lad marra" I'd rather have a proper mackem putting mackem points of view across than this piss taking idiot.
-
I think their goalie, the Belgian lad, is quite decent too. Apart from them, lower Prem/Championship quality players at best.
-
At the match I thought it was a relatively simple goal compared to the goal of the season contenders he normally scores. Having seen it again it was a stunning piece of control and finishing.
-
Aye, thought the same myself. Andy Cole without the attitude. That'll do very nicely.

We've just got to face up to it even when a derby is a big club/little club rivalry, the law of averages says the underdog will win some time. One day they'll beat us, but fortuanately it very seldom happens and even in victory they'll still be mackems and they will have to go back to their miserable existances and smelly little town. Of course the problem with mackems is that when they do eventually beat us it won't be seen as just a long overdue fact of mathematical probability but will be heralded as the begining of a great new dawn and a new world order to be celebrated for all time.
-
Superb again yesterday. A very good midfield player both defensively and creatively.
-
Contributed to the victory and did some decent stuff yesterday, but a lack of confidence seems to put him in two minds about what to do on occasions and he freezes. He will have to overcome that if he wants to succeed at this level although two decent contributions in two games can't have done him any harm.
