Newcastle United v Sunderland - 31/10/10 Live on SkySports HD1 1:30pm

They WILL swamp the midfield and it will not be easy or pretty. As fans we may need to be uncharacteristically patient on Sunday. Best would be an early goal for us which would open them up, then as a far better football team we could murder them. If they score first it will be a brick wall and very difficult for us. -
Was in the opposite main stand paddock (roker end) at same match. Had gone to Sundlund on the Friday and bought about 6 tickets, wife in the ticket office asked "where for" ?, I said "close to the Newcastle fans at the Roker end" she said "do you want to throw things at them" I said no "we want to throw things at you lot" she handed over the tickets no problem. Happy days. As a kid remember seeing them beat us home and away 3-0 in the same season - Neil Martin scored at SJP (Wyn Davies home debut) and Bobby Kerr at joker. The away game me fatha put me and our kid (in black and white scarfs and hats) in the the Roker (mixed in those days) while he went in the more expensive paddock. He'd have been charged with child negligence nowadays New Years Day 3-1 will always be up there along with many others but for me the Dabizas goal and his celebration was probably the best memory of all.

I'm sure he'll get it. I think most Newcastle fans are sick of third rate journalists and radio talkshit presenters setting their agenda publicly for them and ignoring facts to perpetuate the myths they peddle. Time we fought back publicly. Irony is Hughton is a lot more popular with his fans than beach ball head is at Sunderland, he's bought better and moved the club a lot further forward during his tenure than big spending Bruce has. -
True. Even if we get beat on Sunday (I don't think we will) we'll still be Geordies living in a proud city and supporting our team passionately. They'll always be dirty macums with no class.
-
Malicicious rumours being started by macum supporting journalists and editors attempting to deflect attention from the unpopularity of beach ball head down the road. He's spent a fortune and still not made any real improvement, they're finding great difficulty in scoring - even their fans know they've been very fortuante with results so far, AND he lives and socialises in Newcastle because he wouldn't be seen dead in Sunderland apart from pay day, just like most of his players.
-
"failed to deliver any real attacking threat" we've scored in all but 2 league matchs (one of which was with an inspired blackpool keeper on the day) and i may be wrong here but are 3rd highest scorers in the league That's exactly what I thought too. It was almost as if it had been written by the talkshit wankers themselves to make a point they wish to perpetuate and ignoring any real facts.

It will be interesting to see who the thug Cattermole is instructed to go for on Sunday. It would have been HBA for sure if De Jong hadn't beaten him to it. Jonas would be the obvious choice but last time we played them at SJP they took turns in going for Jonas and several got booked but no red card. I think Cattermole will be instructed to target Barton. -
Thats the only kind of support to give on Sunday. Whatever differences of opinion we may have we are united in one thing - we love Newcastle. If any player makes a mistake on Sunday forgive them, support them, keep criticism for the pub afterwards. Remember these are the people who sang obcenities about Bobby Robson, these are the people who posted messages about their pride to have witnessed the injury that ended Shearer's playing career and these are the people who spent a summer celebrating our relegation like they'd just won something themselves. This is the town that gave us Louise Taylor, a mackem with chip on her shoulder about Newcastle so big that she writes lies and innuendo rather than fact in a pathetic attempt to stir things up. Their players and supporters should be given a good old fashioned Geordie welcome this Sunday !

Is dirty-cunt suspended again ?

You can definitely support "this bunch of lads" because it means as much to them as it does to us. We also have a real football person and man of great dignity in charge. Slightly off topic but the Shola 2010 model looks a lot better and stronger than previous times.

Apart from ManU away and Wigan at home I think we have been the better team in every game we've played. I've only seen them against Arsenal home and Blackburn away, and they were very poor in both games and I believe they were quite lucky in both their wins against ManCity and Villa. Richard Dunne and Stephen Carr are their joint second top scorers and a lot of their fans still want Bruce out. We're better than them but anything can happen on the day.
-
I think it's harsh how we sometimes deny the team due credit by saying the opposition was shit. We worked tirelessly and all 11 put in great effort - we stopped them ever being able to play. They may be at the bottom of a very tight league but recently beat Spurs and a full strength Sunderland team in the league cup at the SOS. Kevin Nolan gets shed loads of criticism on here but he is a very important team player and brings a lot of nous and presence to us. Special mention to Tiote who dominated and Carroll who always puts in a great shift and did again after a difficult week. I'd never play him and Shola together but credit to Hughton - he did and it worked.
-
How on earth are people like Brian McNally earning a living as journalists ? He writes just like the person he is - fat and lazy. Chris Hughton is doing a far better job at football management than above mentioned journos are as sports correspondents.

Just the next step in a long line of events that first saw our famous stadium defiled by perimiter advertising (it didn't exist a while ago) and then our even more famous strip emblazoned with a sponsors logo and then football selling it's soul to Sky TV. And where would we be if we hadnt sold our soul? Administration probably. My point (if it can be called that) was more collective, the game in general rather than us specifically, but I know what you mean. It's a competitive business and as soon as one club comes up with a a new revenue stream idea it's pretty certain the rest will follow.

Those things probably had a greater impact and visibility than the new roof top signs which must have been put there to impress the sea gulls and the occasional passing 737.

Did you see that ridiculous dive by Cattermole to try and con the referee into awarding a penalty ? One of the worst ever pieces of simulation ever from the horrible little cheating smoggie cnut.
-
The truth is The Fat Cockney b****** is pissing all over the clubs history. how ? We have a good modern stadium which has been on the same site for generations. It means something to people its a real landmark for the city and to have it turned into a glorified advertising hoarding for Ashleys cheap and tacky supplier to the charva nation is pissing on the clubs history. You are totally overreacting ! He's posting on NO - it's almost compulsory.

Apparently we're lining up a friendly against North Korea next year.

Thought we got it wrong with the 442 and I, like many others, wanted to see this at home. Lovenkrands, much as I like the guy, had zero impact anywhere and were were totally over ran in midfield in the first half. I'd have had him straight off, pushed Guthrie in and brought on Routledge for a 5 man midfield. I like Guthrie but I'm now convinced he has to either be central or on the bench. Barton has been a key player so far and it's probably no coincidence that our worst performance was when he didn't play well. Positives where due, and to go 2-0 down early on to Wigan is a horrible situation to be in. They have a lot of talented players who can really do you when you're pushing on. We could have been hammered in that situation but we came away with an unlikely point, so credit to the players for that. Our support was crap, this"fantastic Geordie support" and "12th man" rubbish is a total myth and has been for years. Mark Halsey actually looked quite decent by present day English refereeing standards.
-
Saw Bruce in the director's box at SJP yesterday - looks like a heart attack waiting to happen - bloated and red faced. See his favourite watering hole is the Diamond in Ponteland, on the north side of er.. Newcastle. If I were a macum I'd be pissed of at how they're all prepared to take millions off them in salaries but won't be seen dead in the dump apart from home matches.
-
We rely a lot on Rooney to open things up, and he's just not there at the moment. I think the ref could have been a bit stronger, mind. Right from the start, any England player who got past his man was chopped down. You need the ref to clamp down on that right away. Bit ironic that the FA's own team should be on the receiving end of some poor refereeing.

I always thought that when our boat was rocking severely with ownership problems, fan unrest, etc, that when their problems came home to roost they would be much worse. Everyone has known their financial predicament but it's like the world was in denial because it was the mighty Liverpool. Quite a few others will follow and I wouldn't rule out clubs like ManU and Real Madrid eventually going the same way. In the future well managed clubs who have not been used to dominating may come to the fore and world football could look very different.
